Beloved of All
I am praying with you for your mother right now in this very distressing and uncertain time when she is convulsing and the doctors have not found a cause.
Your care for her is a true expression of honoring your father and mother as God commands, which in its full meaning is to watch over and provide for them with love, especially when they are weak and cannot help themselves. God sees that love and He hears your prayer.
I want to encourage you to bring her directly to Jesus and to keep bringing her without giving up. There was a mother in the Gospels who was desperate because her daughter was greatly afflicted, and she would not leave until Jesus answered. Her persistence and faith triumphed. In the same way, you can come boldly to the throne of grace through Jesus alone, because He has opened the way for you. You do not need any other intercessor. You can speak to Him directly and He hears.
Scripture says of Jesus that surely He has borne our infirmities and carried our sicknesses. The Gospels show His power in every realm. He healed fevers and leprosy and every kind of disease, He calmed the wind and the sea, and He had authority over evil spirits and they obeyed Him. Whether this affliction is a physical sickness that has not yet been diagnosed or a deeper spiritual oppression, His authority is sufficient. Bring both possibilities to Him in prayer.
I believe God still heals today and that He is able. At the same time I do not fully understand why some are healed instantly and others gradually, and why some healings come through a quiet touch and others through a word spoken at a distance. Jesus never followed a single pattern. Sometimes He touched, sometimes He only spoke, sometimes healing was immediate and sometimes it was gradual. Even the natural healing processes in our bodies are from Him, for He created those processes. All true healing is from God, and it does not need frenzy or showmanship. It can be as simple as faith reaching out to touch the hem of His garment, a point of contact where faith is released to receive what He alone can give.
So let us pray together now. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ I lift this mother to You. You know her body and You see these convulsions. I ask that You lay Your hand upon her and bring peace to her body and mind. Rebuke any sickness or any evil that is afflicting her and command it to leave. Give wisdom to those caring for her and comfort and strength to her family as they watch over her. Let Your healing be manifest in her, whether instantly or through a gradual restoring, according to Your perfect will and mercy. Help this family to keep trusting You and not to turn away until they have received from You. Amen.
