We join you in bringing your mum and your husband before the Lord and we thank you for reaching out for prayer.
We lift up your mum and ask God for His healing touch upon her. We pray for her chest and for the cold to be cleared from her lungs, and for the pain in her arm and back where she fell to be taken away. Our God is the great physician who sees every ache and every illness. The scripture reminds us that He forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases Psalm 103:3 and again, The prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up James 5:15. We also cling to the promise that He will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds Jeremiah 30:17. We pray that the Lord will comfort her, strengthen her body, and grant wisdom to those caring for her, and we encourage you to continue to seek proper medical care as God often works through those means as well.
We also lift up your husband and we pray earnestly that the Lord will deliver him from drinking. We love you both and we must speak truthfully in love that drunkenness is not pleasing to God and it harms the body which is the temple of the Holy Spirit, as well as harms the marriage and the family that God has ordained. The scripture says Do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit Ephesians 5:18 and Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise Proverbs 20:1. We pray that your husband will turn from this and seek sobriety and self control which is a fruit of the Spirit, and that he will find his strength and comfort in Christ rather than in alcohol. We pray for you as his wife to be an encouragement to him toward holiness, and for your marriage to be strengthened and to honor God as a lifelong commitment that reflects Christ and the church.
We notice you prayed to the Lord and we want to gently remind you that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by believing in Jesus Christ, that He died for our sins and rose again, that we are saved and can come boldly before God. We encourage you to place your trust fully in Him and to bring every request in His precious name.
So together we pray, Father in heaven we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We ask You to touch this dear mum, to clear the cold from her chest, to ease her breathing, and to remove the pain from her arm and back where she fell. Lay Your healing hand upon her and restore her strength and health according to Your will. We also bring this husband before You, Lord. We ask You to convict his heart, to break the hold that alcohol has on him, and to set him free. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, give him a desire for sobriety and holiness, and help him to walk in self control and love for You and for his family. Comfort this family, give them peace that surpasses understanding, and draw each of them closer to Jesus. We ask all these things in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
