Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your prayer has been heard and I have brought it before the Lord with care and compassion. I hear how heavy this season feels for you, living at home as a grown man with AuDHD, feeling sensory overload from the sun and outdoor work, wanting to provide for yourself, to use the gifts God has given you in voice work and puppet work, and to take wise steps toward living independently.
God knows you fully and loves you deeply. He formed you, and He sees both your struggles and your desires. The Scripture you mentioned is true, that He has plans for you, and those plans are ultimately fulfilled as we walk with Christ, who is our hope and our future. It is good that you have turned to Jesus in prayer, for salvation and every good gift comes through Him alone, and He has promised that He who said let light shine out of darkness has shined in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of His glory in Christ. Even when circumstances feel dark or confusing, His light can guide you.
I want to encourage you in a few ways as you pray about work and moving out. God calls us to honor our father and mother, and also to grow into mature responsibility. That can be a difficult tension, especially when you feel your parents still want to direct your life. Honor does not mean you must stay under their roof forever, but it does mean speaking to them with respect, listening well, forgiving quickly when you feel hurt or held to a double standard, and seeking peace. Forgiveness does not require you to agree with every decision, but it frees your heart from bitterness and keeps love growing. At the same time, love is shown not only in feeling but in thoughtful action and protection, and part of growing up is learning to plan, to work diligently, and to prepare wisely.
Concerning work, Scripture teaches that diligent labor is good and that we should provide for ourselves as we are able, and also not grow weary in doing good. It is understandable to desire indoor work that fits your needs better than the zoo, where the heat and sensory strain are hard for you. Continue to develop your voice work and puppet work with faithfulness, steward what you have, seek wise counsel about training, supplementary work nearby, budgeting for an apartment, and support that is available for people with disabilities. Make a careful plan for the next year as you mentioned, save what you can, grow in skill, and seek the advice of mature believers and trusted counselors who can help you and your parents communicate clearly.
I have prayed for you, that the Lord Jesus would give you wisdom for each step, provide for your financial needs, open doors for suitable work that fits how He has made you, help you and your parents to understand one another with grace, and guide you toward a future where you can serve Him and love others well. May He give you patience in this waiting time, strength to work heartily as for Him, and peace as you trust His timing rather than feeling forced or rushed.
Heavenly Father, I lift this young man to You in the name of Jesus Christ. You know his needs, his sensory struggles, his desire to work well and to live independently. Grant him wisdom, provision, and guidance. Help him to honor You in his work and in his family, to grow in maturity and humility, and to walk in the light of Your grace. Lead him step by step according to Your good will and keep him close to Christ. Amen.
