A Troubled Prayer
Alas for Us...
A Triumphal Entrance
We have heard your cry for your precious mother and we join with you in lifting her up before our Heavenly Father together in Jesus' name. Our hearts are moved with compassion to hear that she is bedridden and in critical condition, unable to eat, with decreased appetite and vomiting, and we understand your deep desire to see her rise up and walk again.

We serve a God who is our healer and who sees her suffering. We take comfort in His promises that He cares for the sick and the weak. Psalm 103:2-3 says, Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases. And Jeremiah 30:17 declares, For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh. We also cling to Isaiah 41:10, Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

We also noticed that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We gently share this because it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and it is only by His name that we can be saved and our prayers heard. John 14:6 says, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 reminds us, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. To know His healing and His peace, we must first know Him as Savior, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord. Romans 10:9 says, that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. We encourage you to put your trust in Him as you bring your mother before Him.

We pray together for her now.

Father in heaven, we come before Your throne of grace in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this dear mother to You. You know her body, You formed her, and You see her critical condition. We ask in Jesus' name that You would touch her with Your healing hand. Lord, we pray that You would calm the vomiting, restore her appetite, and give her strength to receive nourishment. We ask that You would heal whatever is causing this illness and lift her from this bed of affliction that she may rise up and walk again according to Your will. We pray for Your comfort and peace to rest upon her and upon this family who loves her and is watching over her with such concern. James 5:15 says, The prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. We claim this promise for her today. Guide the hands and wisdom of the doctors and caregivers, and give this family strength, hope, and rest as they trust in You. Let Your will be done in her life and let her testimony bring glory to You. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Healer. Amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek the best medical care for her while trusting the Lord day by day, casting your cares upon Him. Philippians 4:6-7 says, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Keep praying without ceasing, keep speaking the name of Jesus over her, and keep trusting that our God is able to do far more than we can ask or imagine. We are standing with you in prayer for her complete restoration.

We are holding you and your mother in our hearts right now. Watching someone you love be bedridden and unable to eat, dealing with vomiting and loss of appetite, is heartbreaking and exhausting. We hear how much you want to see her rise up and be restored, and we are joining you in asking God for mercy for her.

Alongside prayer, we encourage you to stay closely connected with her doctors or medical team and let them know right away about the changes you are seeing, especially that she is not able to keep anything down. They are best able to assess what she needs in this critical time, and we will be praying for wisdom for them and for you as you care for her and make decisions.

Please know you do not have to carry this alone. If you have family, friends, or a church community nearby, let them come alongside you for practical help and encouragement while you watch over her.

Father, we lift this mother to You in Jesus name. We ask for Your comfort to rest on her, for relief from vomiting, for strength for her body, and for Your peace to be with her and her family. Give wisdom to those caring for her and sustain this family with Your presence day by day. Amen.

Your request concerning your dear mother has been heard and we join you in bringing her before the throne of grace in this hour of great weakness. To see one so loved bed ridden and critical, without appetite and afflicted with vomiting, unable to eat, is a heavy trial, and we bear this burden with you before the Lord who hears prayer.

We very speedily care for bodily diseases for they are too painful to let us slumber in silence, and they soon urge us to seek a physician for healing. We do well to use all lawful means and to seek the help of the physician, yet we look above all means to the great Physician Himself. There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. When the Lord comes and dwells with His people, the Sun of Righteousness rises upon them with healing in His wings, and pardon and healing are placed in happy conjunction.

We are reminded of Peter's wife's mother who was lying sick of a fever, prostrated by the malady. Healing must come before serving, and His ministry to her preceded her ministry to Him. He took her by the hand and lifted her up, and there was a contact established. There is healing in that touch, for the Lord who took our infirmities still lays His hand upon the sick. We pray that He would do the same for your mother, that He would stay her vomiting, restore her appetite, enable her to receive nourishment, and graciously lift her up that she may rise up and walk again.

You know how it is with our bodies, if we suffer long from illness, when the pain is gone there is a dreadful weakness left and we require time to regain strength. Wonder not if recovery should be slow, and as she grows a little stronger and a little stronger, acknowledge in each increase of strength that the Lord has a new claim upon your affection. He has faithfully promised, I will strengthen them in the Lord, and that strength is found as we taste the leaves of the tree which are for the healing of the nations.

We also remember that when Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you. Pardon and healing were one. Therefore while we ask for the healing of the body, we ask above all for the soul's healing through faith in Him who bore our sins at Calvary. May your mother and all your household look to Christ alone for forgiveness and life, for He is able to heal and to save to the uttermost all who come unto God by Him.

Let us pray together. O Father of mercies, look in compassion upon this mother who lies critical and bed ridden. Thou seest her vomiting and her inability to eat, her weakness and her need. Lay Thy hand upon her as Thou didst upon Peter's wife's mother and lift her up. Rebuke her sickness, settle her stomach, give her appetite and strength, and restore her that she may rise and walk before Thee. Grant wisdom to those who care for her, comfort to her children who watch and pray, and above all grant to her and to them the healing of forgiveness through the blood of Jesus Christ. Let Thy will be done, and let Thy name be glorified in her body whether by recovery or by sustaining grace. We ask this in the name of Jesus our Healer and Redeemer. Amen.
