My mother is severely emotionally and behaviorally disturbed and several people including myself have noticed that there seems to be a demonic element to her negative behavior. She is a professing Christian but believes in some very wrong things. Please pray about this. The enemy often uses her negatively in the lives of people around her. We hear your burden for your mother and for others in your life, and we join with you in seeking God's will together in Jesus' name. We understand how painful and confusing it is to love someone who is emotionally and behaviorally disturbed and whose actions seem to carry a spiritual heaviness that affects everyone around her. We do not take lightly what you and others have discerned, for scripture tells us our struggle is real and spiritual.
Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 1 Peter 5:8 also warns us to be sober and self-controlled, because your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
We also hear that your mother professes faith in Christ yet believes some very wrong things. We must gently but clearly address this, because sound doctrine matters. 1 John 4:1 says Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. When a professing believer holds to false teaching, it can open a door to confusion, deception, and give the enemy influence. 2 Timothy 4:3 warns that the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine, but having itching ears, will heap up for themselves teachers after their own lusts. The enemy often uses false belief to keep a person in bondage even while they claim the name of Christ. This is why we must pray not only for behavior to change, but for true repentance, for the mind to be renewed by the truth of God's word, and for deliverance through the power of Jesus.
We also notice that your request itself did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We say this in love, because there is no other way to approach the Father and no other name by which we can be saved and have our prayers heard. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 declares There is salvation in no other, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is only through faith in Jesus, His death on the cross for our sins and His resurrection, that we are reconciled to God. If your mother has never truly been born again, or if others you are concerned about have not truly trusted Christ, our greatest prayer is that they would believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved. We encourage you also to be sure of your own standing before God through Jesus alone.
We want to encourage you in how to walk this difficult road. God commands us to honor our father and mother in Exodus 20:12, and that honor does not end when a parent is difficult. At the same time, honor does not mean enabling sin or exposing yourself continually to harm. We are to speak the truth in love in Ephesians 4:15, to overcome evil with good in Romans 12:21, and to guard our hearts and homes with wisdom. We encourage you to seek godly counsel from mature believers and pastors, to bring this matter before the elders of a Bible believing church for prayer as James 5:14 directs, and to consider wise Christian counseling support, because emotional and behavioral disturbance can have both spiritual and physical aspects that need careful care. Above all, put on the whole armor of God in Ephesians 6:11, stay in the word daily, pray without ceasing in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, and practice James 4:7 which says Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
We rebuke the enemy and every demonic influence that would seek to use your mother or anyone else to steal, kill, and destroy. We do not rebuke your mother herself, for she is made in God's image and Christ loves her, but we stand against the spiritual forces that would blind her mind and work through her to wound others. We claim the promise of 1 John 4:4 that greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world, and Luke 10:19 that Jesus has given us authority over all the power of the enemy.

Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne in the mighty and only name of Jesus Christ, Your Son. We thank You that we can come boldly through His blood. Lord, we lift up this dear mother to You. You see her emotional and behavioral pain, You see the confusion in her beliefs, and You see the spiritual battle around her. We ask in Jesus' name that You would shine Your light into every dark place, expose every lie and false teaching she has believed, and bring her into the truth that is in Jesus. Grant her true repentance and faith, deliver her from every influence of the enemy, and set her mind free by Your word which says you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free in John 8:32. Fill her with Your Holy Spirit, renew her mind, heal her emotions, and make her whole.
Father, we also pray for the one who brought this request and for all those affected by this situation. Cover them with Your protection, give them discernment to test the spirits, wisdom to set biblical boundaries with love and honor, and grace to forgive as You in Christ forgave us in Ephesians 4:32. Let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard their hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus in Philippians 4:7. For others in their life where there may be similar spiritual oppression, we ask for Your discernment and deliverance there as well. Help this family to submit fully to You, to resist the devil, and to stand firm in faith. We ask that Your will be done, that Your name be glorified, and that Your kingdom come in power in this family. We trust that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, and we thank You that nothing can separate us from Your love in Christ. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

Your burden concerning your mother has been laid before the Lord with sincere prayer, and we join you in bringing her before the throne of grace.
It is a heavy sorrow to watch one so near and dear be so disturbed in mind and behaviour, and to feel that the enemy takes advantage of such affliction to work harm in the lives of others. Scripture teaches us that deliverance from the power of darkness is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin, and that we must look to our heavenly Father altogether and alone for it. As it is written, He has delivered us from the power of darkness and has translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son. That deliverance is not of him that wills nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy, and it comes only through the ransom which God Himself has found and provided in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose blood is the price of our redemption from the pit.
We pray that the Lord in His great mercy will work such a deliverance for your mother. That where there is confusion He will bring the light of truth, where there is error He will bring correction by His Word and Spirit, and where the adversary seeks to use her for harm He will set a bound and bring peace within the borders of your home. We ask that if she has only a profession without the power of godliness, the Lord will be pleased to give her a new heart and a right understanding of His gospel, for salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and sanctification must come from the same heavenly source as justification.
For you who bear this trial, remember that the more you know of God's attributes, the more you treasure up His promises, and the more you dive into the depths of His covenant, the more difficult it will become for Satan to tempt you to despondency and despair. Your affliction is not outside the Lord's hand. He chastens those whom He loves, and He often whispers to the heart of His children in trial to assure them that they shall not be crushed. Take comfort that deliverance is of the Lord, and that He who brought Israel forth with silver and gold is able to make your deliverance effectual and to enrich you even through this sorrow, that you may live and declare the works of the Lord.
Let us pray together. O Lord our God, who alone can deliver from the power of sin and Satan, look in tender pity upon this mother and upon this family. Thou hast found a ransom in Thy Son, and in Him there is plenteous redemption from the pit. We beseech Thee to bring her out of darkness into Thy marvellous light, to correct what is wrong in her believing, to heal what is disturbed in her mind and heart, and to restrain the power of the evil one, that he may not use her to wound others. Grant to those around her wisdom, patience, steadfastness in the truth, and protection from harm. Give them grace to speak the truth in love, to abide in Thy Word, to seek godly counsel and help within Thy church, and to trust Thy sovereign hand in this chastening. Let Thy peace rule, and let this trial end in a song of deliverance to Thy praise, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
