Hello every one, I want to start with a praise report, and give our God glory for what He is doing in my life. If you remember a few months ago I posted something on forgiveness and how to ask for it by confessing your wrong doings to the person you wronged. Well I did that with my wife a few months ago and at first she was extremely mad and distant. Well just yesterday when I was dropping of our girls for her week with them out of the blue she says "Scott by the way I forgive you". I sighed a huge sigh of relief and we spoke about other things then again she said "I do forgive you" I said thank you and then after talking for almost an hour I left. Trying my hardest to hold in my excitement until I was in the car and out of her sight then I shouted "THANK YOU GOD". Its amazing how God works, and always when we least expect it. I asked her months ago very sincerely to forgive me and her response then was, I don't know if and when I can. I said I understand and I didn't push the issue. I let go and let God handle it. I prayed that God would bring forgiveness on her heart, and just Thursday I was praying for God to show me something that proves He is working. And bam God answered two of my prayers in one day.
As I was leaving our old house on my way to bible study, I started thinking about the sermon our assistant pastor was sharing in church earlier that day. It was about the victim/ losing attitude some Christians carry themselves in. Then there was a prayer call for people suffering from this victim mentality. Of course I went up because I cant even count how many times I screamed out to God, why is this happening, what am I doing wrong and so on. Nothing changed in me during prayer but as I was in bible study it hit me hard. As I was sharing with a friend I just started saying I am done over and over again. I was saying I am done giving the enemy control over my life, by letting him steal my joy, I am done being a victim, I am done saying God I cant do this, I am done saying God take this from me I cant handle it. I am done giving the enemy power, I am done. From now on I will say God this is harder than I thought however I know I can do it as long as You give me strength. I know that every time I feel down you are with me, I know that I am victorious because Your Son Jesus has overcame the world, He conquered death. I know that I am more than a conqueror in Jesus.
Romans 8: 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
God never intended us to be down and upset, saying oh the devil is attacking me hard I don't know if I can do this. No God gave us authority over the enemy. ​Luke 10:19 Behold I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. God did not intend for us to to be victims or losers, no we are sent out into to the world to be victorious, to defeat the enemy.
How do we defeat the enemy? Well by using our strength. What is our strength? The joy of the Lord is my strength. Nehemiah 8:10 Then he said to them, “Go your way. Eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength. The enemy can not prevail against us as long as we hold onto the joy our father in heaven has given us daily. Psalms 28:7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise Him.
God is our strength and we know he is for us and if our God is for who can be against us? Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? That right there fills me with Joy knowing God has my back in EVERY and ANY situation. He is right there fighting for us and with us. Yes I know it is hard when we are facing the wall and we see no way out, we feel the pain and suffering from our attacks. We should rejoice when we are attacked like the apostles did in Acts. Acts 5:41 The apostles left the high council rejoicing that God had counted them worthy to suffer disgrace for the name of Jesus. We rejoice in this because when the enemy attacks us we know that we are doing something that scares him, and he is attacking in a cowardly way trying to make us give up. The enemy sees our stand for marriage and he knows the only way he can win is by us giving up because he is no contender to God. As long as we are doing Gods will and obeying His command and His word about what we do for our marriage we will be victorious in Christ Jesus.
Listen only to God and His word, if any one tells you to give up on your marriage because it is impossible do not listen because it goes against what God says. We know by reading His word that God hates divorce, and that nothing is impossible for Him. Malachi 2:16 "For I hate divorce!" says the LORD, the God of Israel. "To divorce your wife is to overwhelm her with cruelty," says the LORD of Heaven's Armies. "So guard your heart; do not be unfaithful to your wife."
​We are fighting a battle and our weapons are of God, they are His word, and His word never returns to Him void. We know we have the victory in Jesus. Stop giving the enemy power by acknowledging his attacks, rebuke him with Gods word like Jesus did in the desert for 40 days. resist the devil and he will flee. Remember we are not meant to retreat or give up, God is our strength so there for when we are weak we are strong in God. We can not lose keep your eyes on God confessing to Him your weaknesses and allowing Him to change you. Above all else pray without ceasing laying your request upon the Lord and wait in expectation.
