more quality time with Jesus Christ

We rejoice with you in this beautiful desire to spend more and more quality time with our Lord Jesus Christ, for this is the very heart of what God calls us to. It is a good and godly hunger that the Father Himself has placed in you, and we join our faith with yours that He will help you to draw ever closer to Him.

The Scripture tells us to seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:33. When we set our hearts to seek Him above all else, He honors that desire. We are also promised, Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you James 4:8. Your longing for more time with Him is already a drawing near, and we praise God that He will surely meet you there.

Spending quality time with Jesus means abiding in Him, remaining in His presence through prayer, through His Word, and through quiet stillness before Him. Jesus said, Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me John 15:4. This remaining is not rushed or out of duty, but a loving fellowship. The psalmist expressed this same longing when he said, One thing I have asked of Yahweh, that I will seek after: that I may dwell in Yahweh’s house all the days of my life, to see Yahweh’s beauty, and to inquire in his temple Psalm 27:4. And we are reminded to Be still, and know that I am God Psalm 46:10.

We encourage you to set apart a consistent time and place each day to be with Him, even if it begins small, guarding it faithfully. Come with your Bible, for the Word of Christ should dwell in you richly Colossians 3:16, and let His Word speak to you before you speak to Him. Come also in prayer, not with many words, but with an open heart to listen. Sometimes quality time is simply sitting quietly in His presence, worshiping and letting His peace fill you.

We pray together for you now.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for this precious heart that longs for more of You. We ask in the name of Jesus Christ that You would pour out a fresh hunger and discipline to seek You daily. Help our dear brother or sister to redeem the time and to make abiding in Christ the greatest priority and joy of each day. Quiet every distraction and draw them into the secret place where they can hear Your voice, know Your presence, and be transformed by Your Word. Teach them to be still before You and to find strength and rest in communion with Your Son. May their love for Jesus grow deeper and their fellowship with Him become richer and more constant all the days of their life. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We are so encouraged by your heart in this request. Wanting more quality time with Jesus is itself a sign He is already drawing you, and we are glad to stand with you in that desire.

We have found that this kind of closeness grows the way any close relationship does, not by pressure but by steady, unhurried time together. Intimacy takes time and it deepens as we keep showing up honestly before Him.

If it would help, one simple way to make room for that is to set aside a consistent, doable window each day, even fifteen minutes at first, in the same place if you can. Keep your Bible open, pray plainly as you are, and linger quietly to listen. Some days it will feel rich and other days very ordinary, but that faithfulness of coming is what allows prayer and meditation on His Word to become a way of life rather than just a task.

We are praying with you for that growing fellowship.

Father, we thank You for this hunger to be with You. We ask You to gently help our brother to carve out and protect time with You, to meet him there with Your presence and peace, and to make His Word alive to him. Draw him closer to Yourself through Jesus Christ day by day. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your longing to spend more and more quality time with Him is itself a token of His grace at work in you, for it is God the Holy Spirit who first gives the sense of need and draws the soul to Jesus. There is no better desire, and the Lord Jesus meets it with His own invitation, Come and break your fast.

He is thoughtful of your wants and spreads before you the old food with which He always fed His people, bread pleasant and easy to digest, His own Word of truth. Many a battle has been lost because soldiers were not in good condition for the fight. You need stamina if you are to do hard and long work for Jesus and His truth, therefore come and break your fast with Jesus at once. It is important, considering the weariness that comes from fruitless toil when He is not near, that you have this meal with Him.

Do not be content with an outward and mechanical religion where many press near yet never touch Him. Seek that inward and mysterious contact where life and love flow from Him to you. Deep waters are still, and the nearest fellowship is often the quietest. If you cannot even dream of a good thing in yourself, come to Him as a sinner as you did at the first, and your doubts shall flee away.

Remember how they came and saw where He dwelt and abode with Him that day, and the best part of that day was the portion they spent with Jesus. It was the best day they had ever enjoyed, for they lived with Jesus, and having once lived with Him they learned never to live without Him. So let it be with you. Acquaint yourself with God, study His Holy Book, and mingle the sweet frankincense of praise with your daily oblation of devotion. The text says, He daily loadeth us with benefits, and He does so every day, not only on bright days but on dark days also. Therefore resolve with the Psalmist, Every day will I bless Thee.

Prove Him with your hard questions and your daily burdens. Set apart a fixed season, while the business of the day is not yet begun and all is quiet, to be with Him. Hold this world with a loose hand, test your hope each day, and come with nothing of your own, but fall upon the cross and rest there, taking Jesus to be everything that the law and conscience require.

Let us pray together. Heavenly Father, we thank You that through Jesus Christ alone we have access to Your presence and that salvation is in Him alone. Grant to this soul a growing hunger for Your Word and a steadfast heart to seek You daily. Help him to come and see, to abide with Jesus, to touch Him by living faith, and to be daily loaded with Your benefits. Warm each day with gladness, give stamina for the fight, and draw him into still and deep fellowship that his life may be lived in union with Christ. In the Name of Jesus Christ we ask it, Amen.
