more quality time with Jesus Christ

Your desire to spend more quality time with Jesus Christ is a good and blessed desire, and it is one that God Himself puts in the heart of His children. He desires fellowship with you even more than you desire it with Him.

We join you in prayer to our Heavenly Father.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for drawing this heart to seek You more deeply. We ask in the Name of Jesus Christ that You will help our brother or sister to grow in love for You and to make time with You the joy and priority of each day. Give grace to set aside time without distraction, to hear Your voice in Scripture, to speak with You in prayer, and to walk with You in daily obedience. Remove what hinders, strengthen what is weak, and fill this time together with Your presence, Your peace, and Your truth. Help this time to not be hurried or out of duty alone, but to be real communion with the living Christ who loves us and gave Himself for us. Make it fruitful, that it would lead to greater love, holiness, and likeness to Jesus. In the Name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.

Continue to seek Him faithfully. Set a regular time each day to be with Him, even if it is small at first, and guard it. Come with an open Bible, a willing heart to listen and obey, and with honest prayer. The Lord honors those who seek Him with their whole heart and He promises that when we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us.

Your desire to spend more and more quality time with the Lord is precious, and it is exactly the kind of prayer the Father delights to answer.

Jesus himself showed us the necessity and the pattern for this kind of time. Though he was the Son of God, he would rise very early, while it was still dark, and go to a solitary place to pray and commune with the Father. He did not treat that time as an extra duty but as essential. In the same way, you are invited to seek those quiet, private moments alone with him, heart to heart, one to one. It was for that kind of personal encounter that Nicodemus came to Jesus away from the crowds, and Jesus welcomed him.

Remember that salvation is not only believing facts about Jesus, but believing into a vital, life changing relationship with him. Everlasting life, as Jesus described it, is not simply about how long we live, but the quality of life we have in him now, a life that will then continue forever. That quality grows as you walk with him and abide in him. He is not too busy or too distant for your need. Wherever the Gospels show us Jesus, he is moved with compassion when he sees a hungry heart, and he is willing to reach out and touch and meet you in that place.

You can come with confidence because he has promised his presence. Where hearts are gathered in his name he is there in the midst, and he has said he will be with you always, even to the end of the age. Through the Holy Spirit you can walk with him in sweet and blessed communion throughout the day, keeping your eyes upon Jesus, who is the author and finisher of our faith.

Let us pray together. Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we ask that you draw this dear one into deeper fellowship with you. Create and protect quiet and solitary time to be alone with you, free from distraction. Help that time to be not from duty alone but from love, growing into a vital and transforming relationship with Jesus. Fill that time with your Word, with prayer, and with the communion of your Holy Spirit, and let it shape a richer quality of life in Christ that remains day by day. Teach how to look continually unto Jesus and to know more fully his compassion and his presence. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
