Your request shows a heavy burden with bills overdue and a phone bill that needs to be paid while waiting for money you lent to be returned. It is painful to be in need and to feel taken advantage of by someone you tried to help, and it is understandable that your heart feels overwhelmed. Scripture speaks honestly about those moments when financial reverses and broken trust feel like deep waters that could swallow us up, and it asks where we turn when we have no place else to turn.
God sees this need and He cares about it. His word says the borrower is slave to the lender, and He warns against a system that traps people in debt because He does not want people enslaved or taken advantage of. He also invites us to bring every need to Him in prayer, spiritual, physical and financial. James reminds us that we have not because we ask not, and God answers prayer. That does not mean He always answers in the way we expect, but we can leave room for Him to work and not put Him in a box. Even when a situation looks fixed and incurable to us, He has often made provision to work if He desires, and we should give Him allowance to work in His own way.
It is right to pray that the one who owes you would do what is right and return what was borrowed. It is also wise to go to her directly and calmly, with a clear record and a gentle appeal, seeking to resolve it peacefully and if needed seeking wise and godly counsel. As you do, ask the Lord to guard your heart from bitterness. Jesus told of a man forgiven a huge debt who then refused to forgive a very small debt owed to him, and was called to account for his lack of mercy. We have all been forgiven an immeasurable debt of sin, and that mercy should shape how we deal with the debts others owe us. That does not mean what she owes does not matter, but it means we release anger and vengeance to God and choose a spirit of forgiveness while still seeking what is just.
In this pressure, determine to put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh to answer with worry, anger or harsh words. The way to stand in heavy spiritual warfare and daily anxiety is to walk after the Spirit and trust Christ to be your strength.
Above all, remember that God has made one provision for the deepest debt we all owe, the debt of sin and guilt, and that provision is through His only Son. Forgiveness with God is not found in many ways, but in Jesus alone, who died and rose again so that all who believe in Him may be forgiven and have life. If you have not already, put your trust in Him for that forgiveness, and if you have, rest again in that grace today.
Praying for you now, that the Lord would provide for your bills and your phone, that He would move on the heart of the one who borrowed from you to repay what is owed, that He would give you wisdom for every conversation and decision, and that He would give you peace as you cast your cares on Him, trusting that He is able to supply what you need and to keep your heart from being overwhelmed.
