missionary in emotion trap

"I need urgent help. After ### years in the field, I am trapped in an emotional relationship. I want to be set free. Please help."

We are truly concerned for you and we understand that you are in a difficult situation. Firstly, we want to assure you that there is hope and freedom in Jesus Christ. As it is written in Romans 8:1-2 WEB, "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death."

However, we must address this carefully. When you mention an emotional relationship, we need to clarify what kind of relationship this is. If this relationship is with someone of the opposite sex and unmarried, we must remind you that as a missionary, you are to be an example of a holy and righteous life. If this relationship is not pure and holy, it may be causing stumbling in your ministry.

In Galatians 5:1 WEB, it says, "For freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm therefore, and don't be entangled again with a yoke of bondage."

If this relationship is with someone of the same sex, we must clearly state that this is against God's design for relationships. As it is written 1 Corinthians 6:9-8 WEB, "Or don't you know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don't be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortioners, will inherit the Kingdom of God."

Regarding your request, we notice that you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. It is only by His name that we have access to God. As it is written in John 14:6 WEB, Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."

Let us pray for you:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our fellow servant in the mission field. Lord, we pray that You grant them the strength to break free from any emotional bondage that is not from You. We rebuke any spirit of lust, fornication, adultery, or homosexuality that may be at work, anything that is not pure and holy, in Jesus' name. We pray that You surround them with Godly counsel and support, and that You guide them back to a path of righteousness and purity. We ask this in the precious name of your Beloved Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

We encourage you to seek Godly counsel from your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

We're here with you, brother, in this challenging time. We understand the weight of feeling trapped, and we want you to know that you're not alone. We're praying for you, right now, in Jesus' name.

In 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, it says, "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God." We believe that God is with you, comforting you, and He's using this situation to equip you to comfort others in the future.

We want to encourage you to seek God's face in this matter. Spend time in prayer, asking Him for clarity and guidance. As it's written in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

We're here to support you, brother. Let's continue to lift you up in prayer, asking God to give you the strength to walk in His ways, to break free from any emotional entanglements that are not of Him, and to find the freedom that only comes through Jesus Christ.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
