Missing Check

Jesus please let the missing check either turn up in my house, or be in the mail today. It was supposed to have arrived yesterday, and I don't know if I somehow misplaced it, or it was never delivered. Please also if it accidentally got put in the wrong mailbox, let someone be honest and return it. Thank you Jesus, Amen.

We join you in bringing this concern before the Lord together in Jesus' name, and we thank you for calling upon His name, for it is through Him we have access to the Father.

We understand the worry that comes when something important like this seems lost, especially when you are counting on it and are unsure whether it was misplaced or delayed in the mail. We are reminded that our Father cares about even the smallest details of our lives and He invites us to bring every need to Him.

Scripture encourages us, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 We also remember to cast all our worries on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7 And we hold to the promise that My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

We pray together with you.

Father, in the name of Jesus we bring this missing check before You. You know where it is, whether it is still in transit, misplaced in the house, or delivered to the wrong mailbox. We ask that You would reveal its location, that it would turn up safely in the home or arrive in the mail today according to Your will. If it has been delivered in error, we pray You would move upon the heart of whoever may have received it to act honestly and return it promptly. Grant peace in the waiting and guard this heart from anxiety, and provide for every need as only You can. Help our dear one to retrace steps calmly, to check with the sender and the post office as needed, and to trust You with the outcome. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek Him and rest in His provision while also taking practical steps as you are able, such as carefully looking through papers and places where mail is set down, and contacting the sender to confirm when it was mailed and whether it can be tracked or reissued if needed. But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33 He is faithful and He hears our prayers, and we trust He will give you His peace as you wait on Him.

If it doesn't appear today, a quick call to your local post office tomorrow can clarify if there was a delivery delay in your area.

We are trusting God with you for honesty and kindness if it did go astray, and for wisdom for your next steps.

Father, we bring this need to You in Jesus' name. You see where this check is and You care about the worry it has caused. We ask for Your peace over our friend today, for honesty from anyone who may have received it by mistake, and for clear direction on what to do next. Guide each step and provide what is needed. Your prayer concerning this missing check has been heard, and we join you in laying it before the throne of grace.

It is right and good to bring even the smallest cares to our Father, for the believer recognizes God everywhere and sees His hand in all the good or ill that chequers life. Worldly men live at a distance from Him, but the child of God knows he cannot live happily in his Father's house unless he often speaks with Him and hears His voice in return. You have done well to cry unto God most high, unto God that performeth all things for you.

We understand the anxiety which comes when daily provision seems delayed or mislaid. Yet hear the word of the Lord, What time I am afraid, I will trust in Thee. You go and do the right thing and then be no longer anxious about it, but leave the result with God. Search diligently where it may have been misplaced, make inquiry where it ought to have been delivered, and then rest in the shadow of His wings. Though clouds may surround us, our God is our light, though storms rage around us, our God is our might.

Let us pray together.

O Lord our God, Thou art the God of the hills and the God of the valleys, and nothing escapeth Thy notice, not even a letter or a check committed to the hands of men. Thou knowest where this provision is, whether it be yet in transit, or laid aside in the house, or delivered into another hand. We ask that in Thy good providence Thou wouldst cause it to be found or to be brought safely this day, according to Thy will. If it hath been put into the wrong mailbox, incline the heart of him who findeth it to act with honesty and to return it. Grant to Thy servant peace while waiting, and freedom from anxious thought, and help to trust Thy mercy and Thy truth. Provide for every need as seemeth best to Thy wisdom, and let this trial work a deeper confidence in Thee who never leaveth nor forsaketh Thine own. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who poured out His life that we might be saved by trusting in His blood alone. Amen.

Your prayer about the missing check has been heard and I have prayed with you about it. It is understandable to feel anxious when something you are counting on does not arrive when expected, and when you are not sure if it was misplaced or delayed or delivered to the wrong place.

Scripture and the teaching of the church remind us that anxiety itself does not add anything to us or bring the provision any closer, but only torments us. As one homily teaches, not our diligence alone but the providence of God effects all, even where we seem to be active, and if He cares for us, our worrying gains nothing but a needless burden. We are invited instead to trust that we have a supply more abundant than any earthly store, in the care of God who watches over even small details of our lives. His providence is shown not only in great things but in curbing and guiding the small circumstances around us for our good.

So I prayed that the Lord Jesus in His mercy and providence would guide this matter. I asked that if the check is in your house, He would bring it to light and help you find it, and if it is still in transit, that He would speed its delivery and let it arrive safely today. I also prayed as you asked, that if it was placed in a wrong mailbox, God would prompt whoever finds it to act with honesty and return it to you or to the proper carrier.

While you wait, try to rest in that trust rather than in anxious searching alone. It may help to look again carefully in the places where mail and papers gather, to contact the sender to confirm when it was mailed, and to check with your mail carrier or post office about a delay. At the same time, ask the Lord for peace, knowing that whether He provides through the check being found or through another means, He has not forsaken you and He knows your need.

May the Lord grant you calmness of heart today, honesty from neighbors if needed, and a clear resolution about the check. We trust His good care over you and thank Him that we can bring even these daily concerns to Him through Jesus Christ. Amen.
