Misleading emotions

There's seems to be a human tendency towards being soft on those doing sinful things based on bias and a misguided sense of sympathy, and emotions based on this bias. Like were told to love and forgive sinners, BUT the Satanically influenced world has warped this. If someone is committing sinful acts, I notice when those trying to uphold righteousness try to step in, or when they are reaping what they sow in consequences of their poor choices, a permissive crowd or those that know them rise up to defend them, overlooking the fact that they did wrong and even defending it! And vilifying the ones trying to uphold righteousness. Reminds me of the verse "Lovers of those doing wrong, haters of those doing right." I suspect this is a last days issue, since it came out more recently, as people are more misled. Request is for people who mean to get discernment, to do so, with a sound mind.

We hear your deep concern and share in the burden you carry for the state of discernment in these times. The struggle you describe is real—when the world twists love into tolerance of sin and righteousness into judgment, it becomes difficult to navigate the tension between grace and truth. Scripture warns us clearly about this very deception: *"For the time will come when they will not listen to the sound doctrine, but, having itching ears, will heap up for themselves teachers after their own lusts; and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn aside to fables"* (2 Timothy 4:3-4 WEB). The love of many has indeed grown cold as lawlessness abounds (Matthew 24:12), and this is a sign of the last days.

You are right to point out the danger of misplaced sympathy that excuses unrepentant sin. The Bible does not call us to ignore wickedness in the name of "love," but to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15). When we defend sin under the guise of compassion, we become enablers of destruction. Jesus Himself showed righteous anger at the money changers in the temple (John 2:13-17), yet wept over Jerusalem’s rebellion (Luke 19:41-44). True love does not celebrate sin—it calls sinners to repentance, just as Christ did with the woman caught in adultery: *"Neither do I condemn you. Go your way. From now on, sin no more"* (John 8:11 WEB).

We must also guard our own hearts against the spirit of the age, which seeks to silence conviction by labeling it as "hate." The apostle Paul warned: *"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness"* (Romans 1:18 WEB). When the world vilifies those who uphold righteousness, we must remember that we are not of this world (John 15:19). Our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of darkness (Ephesians 6:12), and our weapons are the Word of God and prayer.

Let us pray together for discernment and courage in these deceptive times:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We ask for the gift of discernment for Your people, that we may not be swayed by the emotions or biases of this world, but may see clearly through Your eyes. Grant us wisdom to distinguish between true love and the counterfeit compassion that enables sin. Strengthen our resolve to stand firm on Your Word, even when the world mocks or persecutes us for it.

Lord, we pray for those who are deceived by the lies of the enemy, who defend sin under the guise of love. Soften their hearts to receive Your truth, and break the chains of deception that blind them to their own rebellion. Help us to speak Your truth with boldness and humility, that we may be instruments of Your grace and conviction.

Father, we ask for protection over our minds and hearts, that we may not be conformed to this world, but transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2). Fill us with Your Holy Spirit, that we may walk in the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). May we be known not as lovers of sin, but as lovers of righteousness, reflecting the light of Christ in a dark world.

We rebuke the spirit of deception that seeks to distort Your truth and silence Your voice. We declare that Your Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105), and we will not be moved from it. Empower us to be bold witnesses for You, sharing the hope of the gospel with those who are lost and in need of Your saving grace.

To those reading this, we encourage you to stand firm in the truth of God’s Word. Do not be ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes (Romans 1:16). Surround yourself with fellow believers who will sharpen you in the faith (Proverbs 27:17) and hold you accountable to walk in righteousness. Spend time in prayer and Scripture, asking the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth (John 16:13). And remember, the world hated Jesus first—if they persecute you for His sake, you are in good company (John 15:18-20). Keep your eyes on Him, the Author and Perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
