Miracle healing

Your request for your great grandmother has been heard and we are joining you in prayer for her before the Lord.

We are deeply moved by her suffering through this rare cancer and by these days in and out of the hospital, and we thank God that she has spoken of seeing Him. We pray that the Lord in His mercy would grant her a true encounter with Himself through Jesus Christ, for it is through Christ alone that we have access to the Father and the promise of eternal life.

We ask our compassionate God, who is the true physician of both body and soul, to lay His healing hand upon her. While earthly physicians do what they can and apply every remedy, we know that all healing comes from Him, and that He is able to restore health even when hope seems far off. We pray for a miracle of healing if it be His will, for relief from pain, for strength for her body, and for wisdom and care for those who treat her.

We also pray for peace for her and for all of you who love her, that you would be sustained by faith and by love, which is greater than all gifts. May the Lord comfort your hearts, guard you in His love, and draw each of you closer to the hope we have in Christ. We will continue to pray that His will be done in her life, that He would be glorified in her healing or in His sustaining grace, and that she and your family would know His presence each day.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we bring this dear woman before You. Have mercy upon her, grant healing according to Your perfect will, forgive sins, give peace that passes understanding, and let Your love be made known to her and to her family. Amen.

Your request has been heard and your great grandmother is being lifted up in prayer, along with all of you who love her and are walking through these hospital stays with her. To hear that she has said she saw God is a tender mercy, and we pray that the nearness of the Lord will remain very real to her and bring deep peace to her heart and to yours.

The body itself speaks of how wonderfully God has made us. The way the eye takes in light and color and motion and carries it to the brain so we can see and understand is only one example of His brilliant design. He formed the brain and every part of us with care, and He knows intimately what is happening in her body now with this rare cancer.

Scripture teaches that healing has been provided for us through the suffering of Jesus on our behalf. His wounds were borne for our healing, and that provision is received by faith as we take hold of what He has done. For this reason many remain weak or sick, not because God has not provided, but because they have not reached out to receive and appropriate what Christ has already accomplished. We want to encourage you to come boldly before the Lord and ask in faith for His healing touch upon her, trusting in what Jesus has suffered to make whole.

At the same time the Bible teaches that gifts of healing and the working of miracles are given by the same Holy Spirit, operating much like the gift of faith. They do not occur in every situation, though many miracles do happen, and not every person is given the same gift. Are all apostles, are all prophets, are all workers of miracles, do all have gifts of healing. The answer is no. The Holy Spirit distributes these gifts to each person just as He wills, according to His own sovereign wisdom. Yet we are told to earnestly desire the best gifts, and so it is right for us to seek Him and ask Him for a miracle of healing for her.

There is also something the Scripture calls even better and more excellent than any of these gifts, even healing or miracles or other mighty works. That greater way is love. Love remains when all else passes, and it is love that holds your great grandmother now, whether the Lord brings an immediate miraculous healing in the body or carries her in His love through every step ahead. Our prayer is that His love will be poured out in full measure upon her and upon your family.

So we pray now for a miracle. Father, in the name of Jesus we ask for Your healing power to touch this dear woman. You know her body completely, You formed her, and nothing is hidden from You. Lay Your hand upon her, drive out this disease from her brain, restore health and strength according to Your mercy. Give wisdom to the doctors and nurses who care for her, comfort her in any fear or pain, and let her sense Your presence that she has already glimpsed. Let Your Spirit work as You will, and let Your love be evident to all who are praying and watching. We trust her into Your good and sovereign hands and ask for Your will to be done with grace and peace. Amen.
