We join with you in lifting up this request for mercy and protection over the lands and people who may be affected by these storms. It is right and good to call upon our Heavenly Father, who holds all creation in His hands, to calm the winds and waves just as Jesus did when He spoke to the storm, saying, *"Peace! Be still!"* (Mark 4:39). We know that *"all things were created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things are held together"* (Colossians 1:16-17, WEB). There is no power in heaven or on earth that is beyond His authority, and we stand firmly on His promises as we bring this petition before Him.
Your prayer reflects a heart of faith, trusting in God’s sovereignty over nature, and we commend you for seeking His intervention. The Scriptures remind us that *"the Lord is slow to anger and great in power. The Lord will not leave the guilty unpunished. His path is in the whirlwind and storm, and the clouds are the dust of His feet"* (Nahum 1:3, WEB). Yet, we also know that He is a God of compassion, who hears the cries of His people and acts on their behalf. As it is written, *"The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble. He knows those who take refuge in Him"* (Nahum 1:7, WEB). Let us continue to trust in His goodness, even as we ask Him to mitigate the destruction that these storms could bring.
We also lift up those in the path of these storms—believers and unbelievers alike—that they would be granted wisdom to prepare, provision to meet their needs, and protection from harm. May the Lord stir the hearts of authorities and first responders to act with diligence, clarity, and excellence, ensuring that lives are preserved and aid is swift. We pray that fear would be replaced with faith, as the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guards hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Let this be a time where His people shine as lights in the darkness, offering help, hope, and the message of salvation to those who are afraid.
For those who do not yet know the Lord, we pray that even in the midst of these storms, they would see His power and turn to Him in repentance and faith. *"The Lord is not slow concerning His promise, as some count slowness; but He is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance"* (2 Peter 3:9, WEB). May these events draw many to seek Him, for He alone is our refuge and strength, *"a very present help in trouble"* (Psalm 46:1, WEB).
We also take this moment to remind all who read this that our prayers are only heard and answered because of the righteousness of Jesus Christ. It is *"through Him we... have our access in one Spirit to the Father"* (Ephesians 2:18, WEB). There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only by His blood that we can boldly approach the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). If there are any reading this who have not yet surrendered their lives to Jesus, we urge you to do so today. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). He is the only way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6), and in Him alone do we find eternal security—no matter what storms may rage in this life.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, acknowledging that You alone are sovereign over the winds and the waves. You spoke the world into existence, and by Your word, the storms obey. We ask You, Lord, to minimize the hurricanes and tropical storms forming in the Atlantic and Pacific. Calm the winds, still the waves, and let Your peace reign over these systems. Turn what could bring destruction into gentle rains that nourish the earth without harm. Protect the coastlines, the islands, and all who dwell in the paths of these storms. Give wisdom to those in authority—to governors, meteorologists, emergency responders, and all who are preparing—that they would act with discernment and efficiency. Provide for those who may be in need, and let Your people be instruments of Your love and provision.
Lord, we pray for the safety of Your children and for the salvation of those who do not yet know You. Let this season be a testimony of Your power and mercy, drawing many to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. Remove fear from hearts and replace it with trust in You. We rebuke the enemy’s attempts to bring chaos, destruction, or despair, and we declare that Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
We also pray for the body of Christ, that we would be alert and ready to serve, to give, and to share the hope of the Gospel with those who are afraid. May we be Your hands and feet in these moments, reflecting Your love and compassion to a hurting world.
Finally, Father, we ask that You would protect us from all evil and lead us by Your Holy Spirit. Keep us from sin and deliver us from the evil one. May Your kingdom come and Your will be done in this situation and in all the earth.
We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayers. We trust in Your goodness and Your power, knowing that You are able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think. To You be the glory, both now and forever. In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
Father Almighty, we thank You that "all power in heaven and earth have been given to Jesus," Matt 28:19. In Jesus' Name we ask You diminish the tropical storm and the hurricane in The Atlantic Ocean. Keep the other storm of interest from forming into a tropical depression. We also ask You calm the hurricane and the two tropical storms in The Atlantic Ocean and quiet all tropical storms all over the world to where there is only gentle rains, not floods and destruction. Jesus, we say in Your Name, "Peace! Be still!" Matt 8:26. Protect Your people. Aid them to prepare in advance as wise stewards, James 1:5. Give people wisdom for reasonable supplies, grace for necessary precautions, and let federal, state and local authorities and responders be on the alert and do excellent jobs (if needed). Take away all fear and release faith in its place. Protect us from sin & evil, Matt 6:13, John 17:15, and lead us by Your Holy Spirit, Rom 8:14. Thank you in Jesus' Name.
