Mental health/Suffering in silence.

Vealor

Disciple of Prayer
I had no choice but to call the authorities and a mental health team on my son to protect everyone a little while ago. I had no idea he was suffering in silence. I pray for guidance and that the right people will be put in place for his healing. I pray mental health be restored for every person in the world feeling alone and suffering behind closed doors.

We hear the deep anguish in your heart as a parent who loves your son and longs to see him whole. The weight of making such a difficult decision, calling authorities to intervene, must have been overwhelming, yet you acted out of love and protection, not just for him but for others as well. It is clear you are seeking God’s wisdom and healing in this painful season, and we stand with you in fervent prayer.

First, we must acknowledge that suffering in silence is a heavy burden, and your son is not alone in this struggle. Many bear invisible wounds, and the enemy would love nothing more than for them to remain isolated in shame. But Scripture reminds us, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit" (Psalm 34:18). God sees his pain, and He is already at work, even when we cannot yet see it.

We also lift up every person reading this who may be suffering behind closed doors, those who feel forgotten, hopeless, or too ashamed to reach out. Jesus came to bind up the brokenhearted and set the captives free (Isaiah 61:1). His love is not distant; it is near, and His healing is available to all who turn to Him. If you are one of these precious souls, we urge you: do not stay silent. Reach out to a trusted believer, a pastor, or a godly counselor. You were not meant to carry this alone.

Now, we must address a matter of eternal importance: salvation through Jesus Christ. If your son, or anyone reading this, has not surrendered their life to Him, we must pray for that first and foremost. Mental and emotional healing flows from the Great Physician, but true restoration begins with repentance and faith in Christ. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16). Without Jesus, there is no lasting peace, no true healing, and no hope beyond this life. If he has not yet placed his trust in Christ, we pray that the Holy Spirit would draw him near and that he would respond in faith.

We also rebuke the spirit of despair that seeks to keep your son, and all who suffer, in bondage. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we might have life abundantly (John 10:10). We declare that every lie of worthlessness, every thought of hopelessness, and every scheme of the devil to isolate and destroy is broken in the name of Jesus! We speak healing over minds, restoration to emotions, and peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious parent and their son to You. Lord, You see the pain, the confusion, and the fear that has gripped this family. We ask for Your divine intervention, guide the hands of the professionals involved, surround them with godly wisdom, and let Your peace reign in every decision made. Father, we pray for Your healing touch to rest upon this young man’s mind and heart. Break every chain of silence, shame, and despair. Let him know that he is deeply loved by You and that You have a purpose for his life.

For every person reading this who is suffering in silence, we ask that You would make Your presence known to them in a tangible way. Remove the lies of the enemy that tell them they are alone, unworthy, or beyond help. Replace those lies with the truth of Your Word, that You are close to the brokenhearted and that You collect every tear (Psalm 56:8). Lead them to safe, godly people who can walk alongside them in their journey toward healing.

Lord, if this young man or anyone reading this does not yet know You as Savior, we pray that today would be the day of salvation. Soften their hearts, open their eyes to their need for You, and draw them to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. Let them experience the freedom that comes only through Your Son.

We rebuke every spirit of depression, anxiety, and despair in the name of Jesus. We declare that healing is coming, restoration is near, and Your peace will guard their hearts and minds. Strengthen this family, Lord, and let them feel Your arms wrapped around them in this difficult time. Give them hope for the future and the assurance that You are working all things together for good (Romans 8:28).

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the One who heals, restores, and saves. Amen.

To the parent who submitted this request: You are not failing your son by seeking help. In fact, you are fighting for him in the way that love demands. Continue to cover him in prayer, speak life over him, and trust that God is at work even in the unseen. The road to healing may be long, but it is not walked alone. Lean on the Lord, seek godly counsel, and remember that His grace is sufficient for you (2 Corinthians 12:9).

To anyone reading this who is struggling: You are seen. You are valued. You are not forgotten. God’s love for you is relentless, and His healing is available. Take the first step toward freedom today, reach out to someone you trust, and if you do not yet know Jesus, cry out to Him. He is waiting with open arms. "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28).

We can hear how heavy this has been for you, having to make that call about your own son. It is such a painful place to be, wanting to protect everyone including him, and at the same time learning he has been carrying so much alone. It makes sense you would feel torn, worried and exhausted.

What you did took love and courage. Reaching for the authorities and a mental health team when you were concerned for safety was a way of getting him care you could not provide on your own, and it opens a door for others who are trained to come alongside him.

We pray with you for wisdom for each person involved in his care and for steady guidance for you in the days ahead. It can help to stay in close contact with the team about what the next steps are, write down any questions you have, and have one trusted pastor or friend or counselor walking with you so you are not carrying the worry by yourself. Please also tend to your own rest and support right now, you need care too.

We also join you in praying for others who feel alone behind closed doors, that they would be seen and helped.

Father, we lift this son to You and ask for Your mercy and protection over him. Give wisdom to those caring for him, comfort and strength to his parent who loves him so much, and lead each next step according to Your will. Bring help to all who are suffering quietly and let them know they are not forgotten. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

Father, humbly ask for Your healing power. Please meet deepest spiritual, physical, emotional, financial needs according to Your Will and timing in Jesus Name Amen
"May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace." Numbers 6:24-26

Your heavy burden has been brought before the Lord, and He who heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds has heard your cry. To have been compelled to call the authorities and a mental health team for the protection of your son and your household is a grievous and costly act of love, and the Lord knows the sorrow and the sleeplessness that has attended it. He sees what has been suffered in silence behind closed doors, for nothing is hidden from His eye, and He is full of compassion toward those who are vexed in spirit.

There is but one great Physician who lays His hands upon men and they are restored, and there grows no healing herb but the one plant of renown. That Tree of Life is Christ Jesus Himself, whose fruit is sweet and nourishing and whose very leaves are full of healing virtue. The fountain opened on Calvary is the one sacred fountain to wash in and be made whole, and until the glory life begins, the abiding power of those healing leaves keeps the soul of the believer in perpetual health. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you, for pardon and healing are one in His hand.

We pray that the Sun of Righteousness would rise upon your son with healing in His wings, that the Lord would quiet his troubled mind, maintain his mental balance, and bring him into contact with that gracious hand which takes the fevered hand and imparts health. We ask the Lord to put the right people in his path, faithful and skilled helpers who will act with wisdom and tenderness, and to grant you clear guidance in every step. He has promised to guide His people, not by obstinacy or haste, but by infusing right principles and by our bowing with submission to His will, and as you wait upon Him He will make your path plain.

May the Lord also heal your own wounded heart, for you have endured much mental agony in seeking to do what is right. Cast your care upon Him who bore our sicknesses and carried our sorrows, and know that He is able to keep you and to restore you day by day. We join you in praying for all who suffer alone and in silence, that they might be brought out of darkness and find true health and peace not in any other remedy, but in Christ alone, who alone can forgive sin and make the whole man well, body and soul, unto eternal health.

We pray that God would grant your son repentance and faith where needed, and full restoration of mind and body according to His mercy, that you would be given wisdom, strength and peace that passes understanding, and that your household would be kept in safety under His watchful care. May He who has begun a good work perfect it until the day of Christ, and make you to know that you are on your way to eternal health in Him. Amen.
