Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your heart and your gratitude with such openness and for wanting to place these plans under the Lord's care. That desire to surrender the details to Him is the right starting point, and it is good to bring travel, work, family and finances before Him in prayer.
There is an old picture of how a king would travel through his land. Before the king arrived, workers would go ahead to prepare the road. They would straighten what was crooked, fill in low places and bring down high places so the way would be ready for his coming. In a similar way, when we say we want our plans to align with God's perfect will, we are asking Him to do that preparing work in us. It is not only asking Him to bless the road we have already chosen, but inviting Him to straighten what is crooked in our hearts, to humble what is proud and to lift up what is discouraged, so that Jesus as King is truly leading the journey. That sometimes means He will change our plans rather than simply make them run smoothly, and trusting Him means being willing to accept His correction and direction even when it is not what we hoped for.
You prayed for a deep love and a lasting spark and for cherished memories together, and for steps toward engagement. Scripture teaches that marriage is a profound mystery where two become one. It is not simply companionship or strong feeling, but a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman in which two lives are joined into one unity. That oneness reflects something of God's own nature as a unity, and it is meant to be entered with great reverence and care. Jesus also taught that marriage belongs to this present life. In the resurrection those who belong to Him will not marry but will be like the angels in heaven, which reminds us that even the best earthly marriage is temporary and points beyond itself to our eternal relationship with Christ. For that reason the most important question about any relationship is whether both lives are first surrendered to Jesus Christ alone for salvation, and whether the relationship is being pursued in a way that honors Him. Love that endures is not built on a spark alone but on shared faith, purity, patience and a commitment to follow Christ together. If you are to spend these days together, seek wisdom to honor God with clear boundaries. Sex and living together belong only within marriage, so plan for separate accommodations, for accountability with family and trusted believers, and for honest counsel from mature Christians who can speak into your lives and help you discern the Lord's will with clarity rather than emotion alone.
It is right to pray for safety in travel, for favor at work, for family members and loved ones left at home, and for God's provision over finances. The Lord does care for every detail and He is able to protect and provide, and we can ask Him for those things with confidence. At the same time we pray with open hands, trusting His goodness even if a flight is delayed or cancelled, if leave at work is not granted as hoped, if weather is not perfect, or if financial pressure remains for a time. His love goes before you and dwells with you not only when everything goes smoothly but also when it does not, and His answer may be to teach patience, to provide in an unexpected way, or to redirect your steps.
Commit this time fully to Him. Ask Him above all to be Lord over your hearts, to make your love for Christ deeper than your love for one another, and to make His will more desired than any particular outcome. Pray that He will give you mutual understanding, joy that is rooted in Him, wisdom to see one another clearly, and grace to walk in purity and truth. Pray for your families, that they would be strengthened and kept in His peace, and for your daily needs, trusting that your Father knows what you need and will supply it according to His wisdom.
May the Lord lead you with a straight path, establish your steps, and help you to seek first His kingdom, trusting that He will add what is needed in the way and time that is best.
