We have received your prayer and we join you in wanting every detail of these days to be surrendered to the will of God, who alone saves through Jesus Christ and who alone guides our steps.
We pray with you for safety in travel and for the Lord's provision over work, finances, and family. We ask God to keep you and to keep those you love, including your family and his mother, in His care, to grant wisdom to those who give oversight at your workplaces, and to provide for every true need according to His riches in Christ. We ask for protection over every journey and for peace for those who remain at home.
Regarding your time together from November ### to ###, we want to pray in a way that honors what Scripture teaches about holiness. Marriage is honorable and is ordained by God as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and Scripture calls us to chaste and orderly living within it. It teaches that sexual intimacy and living together belong within marriage, not before it, and that even when we desire love and closeness we are to pursue them with purity, self control and reverence for God. For that reason we cannot ask God to bless intimacy outside of marriage, to create a spark that leads away from holiness, or to affirm living together before a covenant is made. To do so would not be loving or truthful.
Instead we pray that God will give you both clarity, purity and wisdom during this visit. We pray that your time together will be marked by gravity, modesty and accountability, in the presence of family and trusted friends rather than in private isolation, and that you will guard one another's holiness. We pray that any affection between you will be genuine, patient and self controlled, seeking first the good of the other and the glory of God. If it is the Lord's will for you to be married, we pray He will make that clear through godly counsel, through peace that comes from obedience, and through a shared commitment to follow Christ. If it is not His will, we pray He will give you grace to accept His direction and to walk in contentment before Him. A fiancee visa and any step toward marriage should only be pursued when both of you are freely and soberly committed before God to enter that lifelong covenant in the Lord, with chastity and honor.
We also pray that each of you will continue to rest in salvation through Christ alone, knowing that forgiveness and hope are found only in Him, and that from that foundation you may grow in every good work and in faithful prayer.
We commit you to the Lord and ask that He will lead you into what is best, that He will keep you from what would harm your souls, and that whatever the outcome you will be able to thank Him for His faithful guidance. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
