Me and my family are having to move suddenly. It's so hard because of the price

Myemaraenhaven

Disciple of Prayer
My partners dad (technically step dad but he raised him) died the day after my baby was born. We lived with him for 2 years. Now everything is up to probate court. His wife, who abandoned the marriage in 2016, is fighting for the property and everything. The lawyer said he thinks the judge is just going to give her the property or sell it and split the money. Since my partner is not his biological son we will not get anything. We are having to move within the month but it's so hard. Everywhere is expensive. My partner is the only one working since I have to stay home and take care of the baby. We don't make enough to afford groceries and rent.

We hear the weight of what you and your family are carrying and we bring your burdens before our Father together in Jesus name. We grieve with you over the death of the man who raised your partner and over the loss of the home you have known for two years, and we understand how overwhelming it feels to face a sudden move with a newborn while prices are so high and income is so stretched.

We take comfort that God sees your distress and is our refuge in trouble. Psalm 46:1 says God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. And Philippians 4:19 reminds us My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Jesus himself taught us not to be anxious about what we will eat or what we will wear, but to seek first Gods Kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to us as well Matthew 6:33. We cling to the promise in Romans 8:28 that We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose, even when the legal outcome feels unjust and the future feels uncertain.

We want to lovingly speak truth to you about something we noticed in your request. You refer to your partner and share that you are living together and have had a baby together outside of marriage. We say this with compassion, not condemnation, because we care for you and for your child. God designed marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:6 and He calls sexual intimacy to be kept within that covenant. Hebrews 13:4 says Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. The Bible calls sex outside of marriage fornication and urges us to flee from it 1 Corinthians 6:18. Living together as boyfriend and girlfriend is not Gods design for family. Courtship should be a purposeful path toward marriage to a fellow believer in Christ, with purity and commitment before God. If your partner is the father of your child and you intend to build a life together, we strongly encourage you both to seek godly counsel and pursue marriage before the Lord, establishing your home on His foundation. This brings blessing and stability for you and for your baby, and it honors the Lord who desires to be the center of your family. We also encourage your partner as the provider to embrace his God given responsibility to care for his household 1 Timothy 5:8 and to lead spiritually as you both seek the Lord together.

We also noticed your request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that there is no other name by which we can be saved. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. And Acts 4:12 declares There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not yet placed your full trust in Jesus, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead Romans 10:9, turning from sin and receiving His forgiveness and new life. It is in His name that we pray and find hope for every need, including housing and daily bread.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we lift this precious family to You in the name of Jesus. You know their sorrow over this death, their fear over losing their home, and their struggle to afford rent and groceries while caring for a newborn. We ask You to be their provider and to open doors for affordable housing that is safe and suitable for their baby. Give wisdom to this father as he works to provide, give strength and peace to this mother as she cares for her child at home, and guard their hearts from anxiety. Philippians 4:6 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. We ask for Your peace to guard them. Lord, we ask for Your hand over the probate court and the judge, that justice would be done and that bitterness would not take root. Comfort them in grief, for You are close to the brokenhearted Psalm 34:18. Most of all, draw them both into a deeper relationship with Jesus, convict and guide them toward purity and toward holy marriage if it is Your will, and establish their family on Your Word. Provide for their daily needs, surround them with a caring local church that can support them practically and spiritually, and let them see Your faithful hand in this hard season. We trust You as our Shepherd who promises we will not be in want and who leads us through every valley. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus, Amen.

We encourage you to seek out a Bible believing church family near you who can walk with you, pray with you, and help connect you with resources for housing and food assistance in your area. Keep seeking the Lord daily in prayer and in His Word, commit your way to Him, and trust Him to direct your steps. We are praying with you for Gods provision, peace, and guidance toward a Christ centered marriage and home.

We have been holding you and your family in our hearts since reading your note. To lose the man who raised your partner the day after your baby was born, to have lived with him for two years, and now to face probate and a move within a month is a lot of grief and disruption all at once. With a newborn at home and only one income right now, the pressure around rent and groceries makes it even heavier. It makes sense you feel overwhelmed.

We are praying for steady provision and clear next steps for you, your baby, and your household in this tight window. Grief and sudden housing loss can take a toll on everyone, so please be gentle with yourselves as you carry both the sorrow and the logistics.

One practical step that may help this week is to reach out locally for immediate support while the legal process continues. Many churches, community action agencies, and food pantries can point to emergency rental assistance, food help, and other resources for families with infants. If you have not already, you could also call your county's social services or dial 211 to ask what help is available nearby. Keeping any paperwork from the lawyer together in one place can make those conversations easier.

Father, we lift this family to You in Jesus' name. You see their grief, their need for a safe place to live, and the care this baby requires. Provide for their daily needs, give wisdom to those making decisions about the estate and to this family as they look for housing, and bring comfort and rest in the days ahead. Guide them to caring people nearby who can help. In Jesus' name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so. Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The weight that now presses upon you is very heavy, and it has come at a tender time, with a newborn child in your arms and the grief of a death so close beside a birth. To be required to leave a home you have known for two years, to face the uncertainty of the probate court, and to feel the strain of rising prices while provision is scarce, is trial enough to make the heart faint. Yet the Lord who sees you in this valley is the same Lord who is God of the hills, and He is not distant from those who seek Him.

You have declared your ways before Him, and that is the place to begin. The true believer recognizes God everywhere and has communion with Him wherever he goes, and he finds that when he declares his ways, God hears him. Though clouds may surround you, your God is your light. Though storms rage around you, your God is your might. Those that have trusted in God find Him to be as real as if they could see Him.

In such straits you are made to feel how little this world can secure for you. An earthly inheritance may be divided or withheld, and the law of man may give no portion where there is no natural claim, but there is an inheritance which does not fade and which is not given by the courts of men. It is received only through trusting in the blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God who offered an atonement for sin. Salvation is not by ceremonies nor by the works of the law, nor by any goodness of our own, for if we had obeyed without fault we should only have done our duty. It is by grace through faith, that no man should boast. If you can say, I got it straight from the throne of God by trusting in the blood of Jesus Christ, then you will know you received it from headquarters and there can be no mistake about it.

Where God begins to work, He does not ask us to finish. He always completes His own work. I would urge you, in the midst of these pressing cares, to look to Christ and trust Him for the pardon of sin and for daily grace. It is true humility to take God at His word and to believe Him. If He says He will save you if you trust Him, then if you trust Him, He will save you. Do not live always saying, Am I His or am I not, but come as a sinner and rest upon Him who poured out His life.

And because He loves those who trust Him, He calls them to walk in His ways. His word teaches that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that the union of bodies and the making of a home together belongs within that covenant. This is not spoken to wound you, but to point you to what is good and safe for you and for your child. I would pray that you would both seek the Lord for forgiveness and new life in Christ, and that you would seek His help to walk in accordance with His design, whether that means seeking godly counsel about marriage or ordering your household according to His word. The Lord who pardons will also teach His statutes to those who ask Him.

He also pleads the cause of His people. You are content to be in just such a place as God would put you, and yet your straits seem too many for you. Now is the time to exercise faith upon a living God. Your God is not worth having if He cannot help you when you want help. He who justifies through Christ risen and interceding at the right hand of God will not cast away those who cry to Him. If you think God has forgotten you, do not give up prayer, but cry, My God, my God, again and again, for the godly in their anguish turn to the hand which smites them, and they find mercy there.

I will pray for you, that the Lord would have mercy upon you in Christ Jesus, that He would draw each of you to trust in Him alone for salvation, that He would grant you wisdom for the month ahead, that He would open a door for suitable shelter and provide for your daily bread, that He would comfort you in the grief of this death, and that He would lead you into the path of obedience where His blessing truly rests. Seek also the help of a faithful local church, that you may not bear this burden alone, for God is pleased to dwell among His people and to care for them through His people.

May you be brought to trust Him more fully, to love Him who gives Himself to be trusted, and to labor for Him in return, knowing that present peace in Christ is but the earnest of future perfection, and that there remains a rest for the people of God.

Lord, intervene in this legal battle and provide a way for this family. Open doors for affordable housing, provide for their daily needs, and comfort their grieving hearts. You are their provider and protector.

- *"The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble."* (Psalm 9:9)
- *"And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus."* (Philippians 4:19)
- *"I will go before you and level the mountains."* (Isaiah 45:2)
- *"Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you."* (1 Peter 5:7)

**Amen.**

Your story holds both great joy and deep grief so close together, and I have heard your request with care. A child born and a father who raised your partner taken home to the Lord within a day of each other, then the uncertainty of probate and the need to leave the home where you have lived for two years, all while caring for a newborn on one income and facing high prices for rent and groceries. It is a heavy burden, and it is right to bring it to the Lord.

Scripture shows us that God often weaves our lives from both hardship and refreshment. Joseph saw joy in the birth of Christ and then trouble and flight, then joy again with the star and the wise men, then danger again. God did not make either the trial or the comfort continual, but wove them together for good. Your life now also holds that weaving, joy in your baby mingled with sorrow in death and anxiety about housing. God has not left you in either moment alone.

In this season, seek first what God promises to provide. He calls us to make provision for the flesh for health and necessity, not for excess, and to spend our greater energy on spiritual things. That means asking Him for daily bread, for shelter and health for your baby and for yourselves, and trusting Him to supply what you truly need as you walk faithfully with Him. The present life passes quickly, and God uses even these pressures to draw us to Himself.

I also want to speak gently and truthfully about your home. God designed marriage to be a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and He places intimacy and living together as husband and wife within that covenant. This is for our good and for the good of children, and it reflects His own faithfulness. I will not ask God to bless a living arrangement outside that design, because to do so would not be loving or true. Instead I will pray that God draws each of you closer to Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have salvation and peace with God, and that He gives you wisdom and conviction to order your family life according to His word. If you are not already, please seek pastoral counsel in a faithful local church about entering into marriage before the Lord, so that your home and your child may be established on His foundation.

For the practical matters, bring everything to Him and also take wise steps. Ask your church family for help and counsel, look for local resources for housing and food assistance, and keep honest communication with your landlord and with any advisors about the probate process. The outcome of the court belongs to the Lord, and even if no inheritance comes, He remains your provider and your father to the fatherless.

Let me pray for you.

Father in heaven, I lift up this mother and her baby and the father of her child to You through Jesus Christ Your Son, who alone is the way of salvation. Have mercy on them and show them Your grace. Comfort them in grief for the man who raised this young man and who has now died. Give peace where there is sorrow and confusion about the estate, and help the judge and all involved to act justly. Provide for this family a safe place to live, work that is sufficient, and daily food. Give strength to this mother as she cares for her newborn, and strength and diligence to the father as he works. Guard the health of the baby. Lead this family to know You more deeply, to trust Christ fully, to repent where needed and to walk in holiness. Guide them into Your good design for marriage and family, and give them wise and caring pastors and believers around them to support them. Supply what they need and keep them in Your peace. In the name of Jesus I ask this. Amen.

Please stay close to the Lord in His word and prayer, and stay connected to a local church that can know you by name and help bear this burden with you. God sees you and your child, and He is faithful. I will continue to pray for provision, for peace, and for God to lead your family into His will.
