We hear the deep anger and pain behind your words about what you see happening in Singapore, the suffering you attribute to greed and unjust policies, the poverty and loss of life that burdens your heart, and we join together to bring this before the Lord seeking His will in Jesus' name.

We must lovingly and firmly rebuke the spirit of this request, for to pray for a horrible death, for bodies to be dug up and shamed, and for people to burn forever without repentance is not aligned with the heart of God. The Word tells us Romans 12:19 Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. And Jesus commands us Matthew 5:44 But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. We are also warned Hebrews 12:15 looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it. When we harbor hatred and curse others, even those we believe have done great evil, that bitterness defiles us and hardens our own heart before God. Ephesians 4:31-32 tells us to let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from us, with all malice, and to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other.

God does see injustice, oppression, and greed, and He does promise perfect justice. Psalm 89:14 says righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Yet His justice is holy and His desire is for repentance rather than destruction, for He says Ezekiel 33:11 As I live, says the Lord Yahweh, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. 2 Peter 3:9 reminds us the Lord is not slow concerning his promise, but is patient with us, not wishing that anyone should perish, but that all should come to repentance. To declare that there is no repentance and to desire that anyone burn in hell forever is to close the door that God Himself keeps open while there is life.

Instead of cursing, God calls us to pray for those in authority, even when we strongly disagree with them or believe they have acted corruptly. We are exhorted 1 Timothy 2:1-2 I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks be made for all men: for kings and all who are in high places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence. This does not excuse evil, for rulers will give account to God for how they shepherd the people entrusted to them, but it places justice in God's hands and in lawful, righteous means rather than in hatred.

We also notice your request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we must speak plainly that it is only through Him that we have access to God and that our prayers are heard. Jesus said John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Without Jesus we remain separated from God in our own sin, and no amount of anger at the sins of others can save us. If we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved Romans 10:9, and He will give us a new heart to love what He loves and to hate what He hates without being consumed by vengeance.

We pray together for you and for Singapore.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You. We confess our own need for Your mercy and forgiveness, and we ask You to forgive us for hatred, cursing, and desiring evil upon others. Lord, we lay before You the pain behind this cry, the concern for the poor, the vulnerable, those tempted to despair, and for justice in Singapore. You see every act of greed and every abuse of power, and nothing is hidden from Your eyes. We ask that You would bring true justice according to Your righteousness, that You would restrain evil, expose corruption, and raise up leaders who will act with wisdom, integrity, and compassion for the people. We pray for the ministers and leaders of Singapore, that You would convict them where they have sinned, grant them repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, and turn their hearts to serve justly and humbly. Soften hearts that are hard and bring salvation where there is now darkness.

Lord, heal the one who prayed this prayer. Remove the root of bitterness and fill that place with Your peace that surpasses understanding. Guard against despair and suicide among the people, comfort those in poverty and distress, and let Your church be a light of hope and practical love. Help us all to overcome evil with good Romans 12:21 and to trust that You will repay in Your perfect time. We ask for a heart that loves justice but also loves mercy, as You do. We pray all these things in the holy and mighty name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior, amen.

We hear how much pain and anger is behind your words, and how strongly you feel about what you see happening in ### around jobs, hardship, and the changes in your community. Carrying that kind of frustration for a long time is exhausting.

We have learned that when hurt stays unresolved it can turn into a kind of bitterness that keeps looping on the same thoughts of getting even. It often starts as a response to a real sense of injustice, but if it is left to grow it tends to cloud how we see life and ends up weighing most heavily on the person carrying it, more than on those we are angry toward. It can harden our hearts in ways we never intended.

We want to stand with you for the good things underneath your anger, for dignity, for a secure future, for justice to be done in the right way, and for peace in your own heart. One thing that has helped others when these intense thoughts rise is to notice the rumination and gently interrupt it, stepping away for a walk, talking honestly with a trusted friend or pastor, and bringing the raw feelings to God just as they are and asking Him to carry what you cannot fix alone.

Father, in Jesus name we lift up our friend to You. You see the hurt and the anger and the burden for his community. Bring healing where there has been wounding, quiet the turmoil inside, and give wisdom and steady hope. Help him to entrust justice to Your hands and to find rest from the weight he has been carrying. Amen.

Your words reveal a deep anguish and a heavy sense of injustice concerning those who govern and the suffering you see around you, with poverty and even the loss of life. Such burdens are real, and they are right to bring before the Lord, yet the form of this prayer asks for what Scripture forbids us to ask.

The Word teaches that vengeance belongs to the Lord alone. There is a day of vengeance and it is in His heart, not in ours, and that day is joined to the year of His redeemed. At the cross, justice and mercy met, for if God demanded the penalty in justice, He Himself supplied it in love through His Son. Because that vengeance was poured out upon Christ for sin, the day of vengeance for those who are in Christ is over, and for all others it remains with God who will judge with perfect righteousness. We are not given leave to call down horrible deaths, to desecrate the dead, or to fix any person beyond repentance.

You have asked that there be no repentance and that men burn forever. Yet the wonder of the gospel is that there is forgiveness with God, that He may be feared. It is a divine forgiveness, I even I am He that blotteth out thy transgressions for Mine own sake. It is a surprising forgiveness, so surprising that the Lord repeats it lest we should doubt it, and a complete forgiveness that blots out the debt entirely and remembers it no more. Where God draws no limit, we must not draw any. However sinful a life has been, if there is penitence and faith toward Christ, there is forgiveness even for the chief of sinners, and God can bestow it now. To ask that repentance be impossible is to ask against the very heart of God, who is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance, and who sent His Son to be the Just for the unjust that He might bring us to God.

For this reason the bitterness we feel over sin, first our own sin against Christ, is meant to take away bitterness against our fellow men. When we have mourned for Him whom we pierced, as one mourns for an only son, the world loses its power to make us hard and vengeful. One effect of truly feeling the bitterness of our own sin is that it makes Christ sweet and it takes away all bitterness against others. We find ourselves saying, how much I offended God, and how freely He forgave me. The most splendid vengeance we can ever have is to do good to them that do us evil and to speak well of them that speak ill of us, for we forgive even as Christ forgave us. He lived for His enemies, died for His enemies, and prayed, Father forgive them for they know not what they do.

We cannot join you in asking God to inflict cruel deaths or to deny repentance. Instead we will pray as Scripture directs us to pray for those in authority, and to seek justice by lawful and peaceable means.

We pray that the Lord would bring true justice to light and that all who govern would be held accountable for their deeds in the courts of men where it is proper, and before the judgment seat of God where none can hide. We pray that God would grant repentance where there has been greed or oppression, that He would turn hearts to do justice and love mercy. We pray for those among your people who suffer under poverty and despair, that the Lord would comfort them, preserve life, and raise up help for them, and that you yourself would be delivered from a spirit of hatred which hardens the heart and gives no rest. May He who continues daily to forgive His people give you a heart to forgive as you have been forgiven, not because the wrong is small, but because His forgiveness to you in Christ has been so great and so complete.

If this burden grows heavy, seek the counsel of a faithful pastor and of trusted brethren near you, and bring your grief and your desire for justice to God in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone there is forgiveness and access to the Father.
