Beloved of All
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭9‬-‭13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We are grateful you brought forward this precious prayer that Jesus Himself taught His disciples to pray and we are blessed to share it together with you from the scriptures.

Jesus said in Matthew 6:9-13 Pray like this, Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

We love how this prayer, often called the Lord's Prayer, is not meant to be a vain repetition but a model for our hearts. As Jesus taught just before this in Matthew 6:7 Do not use vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their much speaking. He invites us into a real relationship with the Father, to hallow or honor His holy name first, to surrender to His Kingdom and His will above our own, to depend daily on Him for our needs, to walk in forgiveness both receiving and giving, and to trust Him for deliverance from temptation and the evil one.

We also gently remind you that we only have access to call God Our Father through His Son Jesus Christ. It is by Jesus that we are adopted into the family of God. As it says in Romans 8:15 you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, Abba Father and in 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12 there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. So we always come to the Father in the name of Jesus, trusting in His shed blood and resurrection for our forgiveness and salvation.

We join our hearts with you now in prayer.

Our Father in heaven, we hallow Your holy name together and we thank You for inviting us to call You Father through Jesus Christ Your Son. We ask that Your Kingdom come and Your will be done in our lives and on this earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread and supply all that we need according to Your riches and mercy. Forgive us our debts as we also forgive our debtors, and help us to release any unforgiveness we hold, knowing You have forgiven us so much in Christ. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one, guard our steps and keep us from sin. For Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Help us to pray this not as empty words but from a sincere heart that loves and obeys You. Draw each of us closer to Jesus, that we may know Him as Lord and Savior and live daily in fellowship with You. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to make this pattern your daily guide, praying in your own honest words as well, and to linger on each phrase and let the Holy Spirit shape your heart. If you have not yet trusted in Jesus for salvation, we urge you to believe on Him today, confess your sins and receive His forgiveness and new life. Continue to seek Him in His Word and in prayer, and He will be faithful to lead you.

Thank you for sharing the prayer Jesus taught His disciples. We are grateful you brought these words here.

There is something steadying about coming back to this prayer when we do not have other words. It covers our need for God Himself, for His will, for daily provision, for forgiveness and for protection, all in a few simple lines. Praying it can remind us we are not praying alone but as children to a Father who hears.

If this prayer has been on your heart, you might find it helpful to linger on one line at a time through the week. In the morning read it slowly, pause where your heart catches, and tell God plainly what that line means for you that day, whether it is daily bread, forgiveness, or guidance. Then rest knowing He has heard you.

We are carrying this with you and asking God to meet you in it.

Father, we thank You for drawing our friend to pray to You. Give today what is needed, quiet the heart with Your nearness, and lead gently in Your will. Help Your name be hallowed in this life and bring peace that comes from walking with You. In Jesus' name, amen.
