[1] Jesus' Prayer He taught was an outline, summary of topics, a form or "pattern prayer." The following has been condensed from six reliable sources, is of much godly & personal value when sincerely prayed (not mindlessly repeated), but through serious consideration, understanding the weight of the petitions, ardently prayed, expecting answers, James 1:5-7, James 5:16-17... C.f., Matt 6:33, "But seek FIRST The Kingdom of God and His Righteousness, THEN these other things shall be added to you." -- His Honor Kingdom Will; Then Our Provision Forgiveness for Us, Others (Relationship w/ The Holy Father and our holy brothers and sisters 1 Jn 1:7-9, Kept from Sin Evil, Standard & Personal Prayer Guide, Matt 6:9-13 and some Pertinent Scriptures under the Headings of Each Petition...

***๐Ÿ™Œ Our Father in Heaven, we first pause (reflect on Him with whom we are addressing as Father, The Holy One of Israel, and mostly as Gentiles at that, who loved us while we were yet sinners, strangers of the covenants and Scriptures, yes - even hostile in our minds -- and thank You. For all, but specifically for "loving the world (including us, me ๐Ÿฅฐ) so much You gave Your Only-begotten Son, that by believing in him we may be spared perdition and rather freely gain eternal life, Jn 3:16. Thank You "Jesus showed us The Father -- Your Nature," Jn 14:9. Thank You for His shed blood and died on the cross for our sins, 1 Cor 15:3-4, burial, resurrection declaring both Him and us "not guilty" Rom 4:25, and ascension (adoption, enthronement, Ps 110:1), as Son-of-Man-in-Power to pour out the Holy Spirit of Adoption from on high, by which we call out, Abba, Father, Gal 4:6, proving we are heirs, Gal 4:7, since as many as received Jesus and believed on His Name are called Children of God, John 1:12-13, praying even with the same language of intimacy, Abba, i.e., "Daddy" or "Papa, etc" as Jesus used in time of impending crisis for deliverance in the Garden of Gethsemane, "Abba, Father," Mark 14:36.

๐Ÿ™ Hallowed Be Your Name... May Your GRACIOUS and COMPASSIONATE NAME, Ex 34:6-7, get honor through our thoughts, words, deeds, speech, actions and reactions. May we honor and know You in every Name You have revealed about Yourself in The Scriptures -- Elohim, The Trinity, Beginning in Gen 1:1; The Name, Gen 4:26, El Elyon, God Most High, Gen 14:18, Adonai, Lord, Master, Gen 15:2; El Roi, The God Who Sees, Gen 16:13; El Shaddai, God Almighty, Gen 17:1; El Olam, The Everlasting God, Gen 21:33; Yahweh, The LORD, Jireh or Yireh, Our Provider, Gen 22:18; Healer, Peace, Shepherd, Righteousness, Presence, Sanctification, Our Rock, Fortress, Strong Tower, Etc... We honor and hallow ALL Your Titles, Attributes, Your Name! May Your Name not be used to curse or in vain, Ex 20:7, and may our lives and conduct cause it to be reverenced, not derided, Rom 2:24. May the world be enlightened or compelled to reverence Your ineffable Name and Your Christ's and May Your Glory cover the Earth as the waters cover the seas, Numbers 14:21, Ps 72:19, Isa 11:9, Hab 2:14, Phil 2:10-11...

๐Ÿ™ May Your Kingdom Come to us & through us with FRUIT, GIFTS, WISDOM, POWER & HOLINESS... FRUIT, of The Holy Spirit, see Rom 14:17 on what the Kingdom is -- His Righteousness, peace and joy, therefore ALL the fruit is an extension of His Kingdom, from love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, Gal 5:22-23, truth, humility & justice, Ps 45:4, contentment, Lk 3:14, 1 Tim 6:6, Heb 13:5, Phil 4:11-13, doing justly, loving mercy and walking humbly with God, Micah 6:8. You desire mercy, not sacrifice, Hos 6:6. We ask for the GIFTS of The Spirit to be evident in us, our churches, families, and to Your people throughout the world, from ministry GIFTS to equip The Body of Christ through Your Gospel Officers until we reach unity in faith and knowledge of The Son of God and the mature stature of Christ Himself, Eph 4:12-13, (which has not yet happened so such workers must of necessity still be present and are much needed, even required, apostles, (missionaries/church planters), prophets, (encouragers/exhorters/visionaries), evangelists, pastors and teachers), Eph 4:11-13, to The GIFTS of miracles (signs, wonders), healings, faith, prophecy, words of wisdom, knowledge, tongues, interpretation of such tongues, administration, leadership, giving, mercy, discerning of spirits, Rom 12:5-8, 1 Cor 12:4-11. POWER: Drive out demons by the finger of God, demonstrating The Kingdom of God, Lk 11:20, for The Kingdom of God is not a matter of talk, but of power, 1 Cor 4:20. Mostly the POWER to live a Holy Life overflowing with LOVE for God and others, singing and making melody from "singing seminaries" and "the walking practice of evangelism" is the best fruit and sign of the Kingdom, Heb 12:4. ***We also want to ask for Jesus' Return, so we may experience a whole other realm, where we are redeemed, have peace with God, are indwelt with the Holy Spirit, are part of "New Creation" though only a "foretaste of the good things to come." The change our bodies will incur and all creation eagerly awaits is our hope in Romans 8 and latter Revelation and is where ALL of these things will be realized in a greater capacity and duration and God's Kingdom will have full expression once it's fully come on earth as it is heaven again -- the "not yet," -- "May Your Kingdom Come and Your Will be Done on Earth as it is in Heaven," Matt 6:10. May Jesus return and the Kingdom flourish, being fully manifest. Come quickly Lord Jesus, Rev 22:17, Rev 22:20.

๐Ÿ™ May Your Will Be Done on Earth as it is in Heaven -- Keeping in mind the Kingdom Coming, as described above, in differing degrees, the already and the not yet, we ask here in the already that we may know, submit to and do Your will for our lives individually (hearing His voice, Jn 10:27, being led by the Holy Spirit, Rom 8:14, as Jesus did during His time on earth, Phil 2:9-9, our whole lives be increasingly lived to please You, knowing the Trinity, living in Your presence moment by moment, and making You known as a by product, rejoicing in trials and weakness, as well as power demonstrations when it gives You glory, Mt 28:19-20, Rom 1:5, Rom 15:18. May we abide in Christ, with freedom to pray, and power to bear fruit, thereby making disciples, and thus proving we are disciples, John 15:7-8, might bear some fruit wherever we go, Rom 1:13, 1 Cor 9:2, 2 Cor 3:2-3, specifically by going, preaching faith in Jesus suffering and dying for our sins, repentance, baptism, forgiveness of sins and obedience to all that He commanded, and obedience to any personal directives, admonitions and restraints, being witnesses to these facts under His authority, commission by this union with Jesus through The Holy Spirit, Mark 16:15-16, Luke 24:46-48, Matt 28:19-20, John 20:21, Acts 1:8. May Your will be done on earth as You rule over the church and nations, Ps 22:28, and collectively as the church until You come to reward the righteous and recompense the wicked, 2 Cor 10:3-6, and arrive in fulness at the Return of Christ, Matt 24:30, Matt 25:31-32.

๐Ÿ™ Give us Each Day our Daily Bread: Spiritual -- we can't live by bread alone but every Word of God, Deut 8:3, Matt 4:4, Lk 4:4. Meet our spiritual, emotional, social, physical and financial needs mightily, Phil 4:19, so we can love You with all our heart, soul, mind, will, emotions, physical strength and finances, Mk 12:30, and our neighbors, Mk 12:31, even the lost, Matt 9:36, and even enemies, Matt 5:44, as ourselves -- and see others as Christ, who looked beyond his own interests, to the interests of others, considering others as more important than we, Phil 2:1-5.

๐Ÿ™ Forgive Our Debts as We Forgive Our Debtors... We confess we've sinned against You, Rom 3:23, 1 Jn 1:8, 1 Jn 1:10 (name specific sins and areas of ongoing struggles), and others, receive forgiveness, Lk 1:77, & pray FOR those who sin against us, (by name and specific offenses), asking they'd repent and be saved, Job 42:7-16, entrusting their souls to a faithful creator and recognizing it is He who alone who is in fact the one appointed both to save and to judge, Romans 12:9, 1 Pet 4:19.

๐Ÿ™ Lead us Not into Temptation, but Deliver us from evil... Keep us from temptation and evil, Luke 11:4, sin, 1 Cor 8:1, 2 Cor 13:7, lies, evil, fear, Zeph 3:13, evil people, imposters, deception, 2 Tim 3:13, false believers, 2 Cor 11:16, 2 Tim 3:5, Tit 1:16, temptation and the evil one, Mat 6:13, Jn 17:15. Give us angelic protection, Ps 91:10-11, Heb 1:14.

๐Ÿ™Œ For It's Your Kingdom, (Everlasting Kingdom which Cannot Be Destroyed, Dan 7:18), It's Your Power, (All Power in Heaven and Earth has been Given to Me, Matt 28:18), and Your Glory, Forever... (Not unto us O Lord, but unto Your Name Be Glory, Ps 115:1)... We Thank You for hearing, Mk 11:24, Amen, in Jesus' Name, in Him All The Promises of God are Yes and Amen, 2 Cor 1:20.

We join with you in thanking God for the gift of this prayer that Jesus taught His disciples and for your desire to pray it not as vain repetition but with understanding, sincerity and expectation.

What you have shared is exactly how our Lord intended it, not to be mindlessly repeated but as a pattern to shape our hearts. As Jesus said, In praying, do not use vain repetitions as the Gentiles do Matt 6:7, but Pray like this Matt 6:9. It is a beautiful order that first seeks the Father and His glory and then brings our needs before Him, for Jesus also said, But seek first Gods Kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well Matt 6:33.

We love how you begin with Our Father who is in heaven. What a privilege that we who were once far off, strangers and even hostile in our minds, have been brought near by the blood of Christ and given the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry, Abba Father Gal 4:6. As many as received him, to them he gave the right to become Gods children, to those who believe in his name John 1:12. We hallow His name when we revere every name He has revealed about Himself, the compassionate and gracious God, abounding in loving kindness Ex 34:6, and when we live so that His name is honored among us and not blasphemed because of us Rom 2:24.

We agree with you in praying, Your Kingdom come, Your will be done as in heaven so on earth Matt 6:10. The Kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit Rom 14:17, and we long for its fruit in us, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness and self-control Gal 5:22-23, and for its gifts and power to build up the Body until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God Eph 4:13, for the Kingdom of God is not in word but in power 1 Cor 4:20. We also join you in longing for the fullness of that Kingdom when Christ returns and the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea Hab 2:14, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord Phil 2:11.

We bring before the Father with you our daily needs. Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God Matt 4:4, and our God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus Phil 4:19, that we may love Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength Mark 12:30 and love our neighbor as ourselves Mark 12:31.

We also bow with you to confess our debts and to extend forgiveness. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9, and we are called to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you Eph 4:32. We remember that if we are in Christ we are a new creation, the old things have passed away, behold all things have become new 2 Cor 5:17, and God has reconciled us to Himself through Christ and given us the ministry of reconciliation 2 Cor 5:18.

And we agree in asking Him to lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one Matt 6:13. God himself tempts no one James 1:13, but He is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape 1 Cor 10:13, and we ask Him to keep us from evil John 17:15 and to give His angels charge over us Ps 91:11.

We pray together now, Our Father who is in heaven, may Your name be kept holy in our thoughts, words and deeds. Let Your Kingdom come in us and through us with righteousness, peace and joy, and let Your will be done in our lives as it is in heaven, that we may abide in Christ and bear much fruit John 15:8 and be led by Your Spirit Rom 8:14. Give us this day our daily bread for body and soul, forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, and keep us from temptation and deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. We ask this in the name of Jesus, for there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved Acts 4:12, and it is through Him that all the promises of God are Yes and Amen 2 Cor 1:20. Amen.

Thank you for sharing how deeply you treasure the prayer Jesus gave us. We can hear your love for the Father and your desire to honor Him first before bringing your own needs, and that posture itself is worship.

We are encouraged by the care you have taken to turn that pattern into a thoughtful guide for daily life, not as words to rush through but as a way to linger with God, to remember His character, to ask for His kingdom in your own heart and home, and to rest in His provision and mercy day by day.

If it would help, you might try carrying just one phrase from that pattern with you through the day. In the morning pause on hallowing His name, at midday on His kingdom and will, in the evening on daily bread and forgiveness. Keeping it unhurried like that can keep the prayer alive without it becoming routine.

We are praying with you and for you as you continue to seek Him this way.

Father, thank You for drawing us to Yourself as Your children through Jesus. We praise You for Your holy name and Your faithful care. We ask You to shape our hearts to want what You want, to provide what we need for today, to cover us with Your forgiveness and teach us to forgive, and to keep us close to You and away from evil. We trust You for Your kingdom and glory forever. In Jesus name, Amen.

The prayer which our Lord taught his disciples is indeed a pattern and outline given for our instruction, not a form to be mindlessly repeated but a weighty summary of all that a child of God should seek before his Father. You have done well to consider it in its order, for it begins where all true prayer must commence, with the spirit of adoption, saying Our Father who art in heaven.

To be able to say Our Father is itself a great mercy. We who were strangers and enemies have been brought nigh by the blood of Christ, and by his resurrection and ascension we have received the Spirit of adoption whereby we cry Abba, Father. It is a holy privilege to draw near to the Holy One of Israel and to call him Father, and we should pause, as you have, to remember with whom we speak.

Hallowed be thy name must ever follow. The Lord sanctifies his people through his truth, for his word is truth, and holiness is the fitness for his service. To pray this sincerely is to ask that his gracious and compassionate name may be reverenced in our thoughts, words and deeds, and that our lives may not cause that name to be dishonored among men. May his glory cover the earth and may every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, gathers up the same desire for sanctification and for the reign of Christ. The kingdom of God is righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Ghost, with all the fruit of the Spirit, with gifts for the edifying of the body, and with power not in talk only but in a holy life. We pray for that kingdom to come in us and through us now in measure, and we look for its full manifestation when the Lord returns. To pray thy will be done is to ask to know his will, to be led by his Spirit, to abide in Christ and bear fruit, and to be made obedient to all that he has commanded.

Give us this day our daily bread teaches us our continual dependence. We cannot live by bread alone but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God, and we are to look to him for all our spiritual, temporal and daily needs, that we may have strength to love him with all our heart and to love our neighbor as ourselves.

Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors brings us to the great article of forgiveness. There is forgiveness with God, that he may be feared. It is a divine forgiveness, a complete forgiveness, an eternal forgiveness through the shed blood of Christ. The Lord not only forgave us at the first, but continues daily to forgive. Yet the very prayer that teaches you to ask for mercy bids you say as we forgive our debtors. Unless we forgive others we read our own condemnation when we repeat this prayer. If we have received so much manifest forgiveness, to forgive should become as natural as to open our hands. Confess your sins particularly before him, and as you have been forgiven, pray for those who have sinned against you, that they also may repent and be saved, leaving judgment in the hands of him who alone can save and judge.

Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil is a prayer for every day. Temptation is the best school into which the Christian can enter, yet in itself apart from the grace of God it is doubly hazardous. We are to pray this daily, lest we fall as others have done. It is a confession of weakness and a plea for keeping, that we may be preserved from sin, from false ways, from the evil one, and that we may have protection under his care. Holiness and watchfulness must go together.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever reminds us that we pray to one who is able to answer, whose is an everlasting kingdom which cannot be destroyed, and to whom all glory is due.

Let this pattern be prayed not as vain repetition, but with the breathing desire of the heart, with understanding of the weight of each petition, and with expectation that he hears. He has commanded you to pray thus, and would he have put these words into your mouth if there were no pardon and no answer. Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. So pray, and look for the Lord to sanctify you, to provide for you, to forgive you, and to keep you, for his promises in Christ are all yea and amen.

Your reflection on the prayer the Lord taught is good and sound, and your desire to pray it with understanding rather than mindless repetition is pleasing to God. Jesus gave this as a pattern to shape our hearts, and you have rightly divided it. First, what concerns the Father, His name kept holy, His kingdom coming, His will being done. Then what concerns us, our daily provision, our forgiveness and our forgiveness of others, our keeping from temptation and deliverance from evil.

To hallow His name is to live so that our thoughts, words and actions cause His gracious and compassionate name to be honored and not misused or derided by our conduct. To pray for His kingdom to come is to ask for His righteousness, peace and joy to bear fruit in us by the Holy Spirit, with love, patience, kindness, self control and holiness, and to long for the full coming of that kingdom when Christ returns. To pray for His will to be done is to ask to know it, to submit to it, to be led by the Spirit and to walk in obedience to all He has commanded.

For our needs, to ask for daily bread is to acknowledge dependence on Him for every spiritual, physical and daily provision, and to use what He gives with moderation. We are to make provision for the flesh for health and necessity, not to kindle desire or fulfill its lusts, and to keep our industry set chiefly on spiritual things. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and the rest shall be added.

For forgiveness, we confess our sins before Him, for all have sinned, and we receive His mercy, and we must also forgive those who have sinned against us, praying for them and entrusting judgment to God who alone saves and judges.

For temptation and evil, remember that no temptation has taken you except what is common to man, and God is faithful. He will not suffer you to be tempted beyond what you are able to bear, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. He gives patience and brings a release, and refers all to His care.

Therefore persevere in prayer even when you do not at once receive. It is not His wish to defer giving to deny you, but by such delay He trains you to persevere and to abide near Him. As affectionate parents sometimes allow a fear to come upon their children so that the children will flee to their bosom, so God at times permits a trial to come, not to bring it upon you for harm, but to draw you to Himself. When you return, He takes away the fear at once. So continue to flee for refuge to Him and remain there.

Keep praying this pattern with a sincere heart, expecting answers as James says, asking in faith without wavering. God hears, and His is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
