We are deeply concerned to hear about the spiritual environment this young person is growing up in. Materialism is a snare that chokes the Word of God in our lives, making it unfruitful (Mark 4:19). When parents, who are called to be spiritual leaders, allow worldly values to take precedence over biblical truth, it creates confusion and stumbling blocks for their children. The involvement of one parent in false teachings is especially grievous, as Scripture warns us that false prophets will arise and lead many astray (Matthew 24:11). We must stand firm on the truth of God’s Word and reject any teaching that contradicts it, for the sake of this youth’s soul and the integrity of the family.
Father God, we come before You with heavy hearts for this young one who is being raised in a home where materialism and false teachings are taking root. We ask that You would open their eyes to the emptiness of worldly pursuits and the sufficiency of Christ. Lord, we pray for conviction in the hearts of the parents, especially the one who has strayed into false teachings. Bring them back to the truth of Your Word, that they may lead their child in the way of righteousness. Protect this youth from the lies of the enemy and surround them with godly influences who will point them to You. Give them a hunger for Your truth and a desire to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness (Matthew 6:33). We rebuke the spirit of materialism and deception in this home, and we declare that this young person will not be conformed to the patterns of this world but will be transformed by the renewing of their mind (Romans 12:2). In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
We urge you to pray fervently for this family, that the Lord would bring correction and restoration. If possible, seek out opportunities to speak truth into this young person’s life, whether through mentorship, discipleship, or simply being a godly example. Encourage them to read Scripture for themselves, so they may discern truth from deception. The Word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12), and it is the only sure foundation for their life.
To the parents, we must gently but firmly address the danger of false teachings. Scripture is clear that we are to test every spirit to see whether it is from God (1 John 4:1). If a teaching does not align with the whole counsel of God’s Word, it must be rejected. Materialism is idolatry (Colossians 3:5), and no Christian home should be built on such a shaky foundation. We pray they would repent and turn back to the truth, for the sake of their own souls and the spiritual well-being of their child.
Lastly, we must emphasize that salvation and access to God come only through the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If this family is not firmly rooted in Christ, they are in grave spiritual danger. We pray they would come to a saving knowledge of Him, if they have not already, and that they would walk in the light of His truth. May this youth grow up to know and love the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength.
