We join you in thanking our Heavenly Father for this new day and for the noble calling He has placed on your life to serve others through nursing. We rejoice that you desire not just to do the work, but to do it with mastery and excellence as unto Him, and that is a beautiful reflection of a heart that wants to honor God in all things. Your prayer for skill in bed bathing, wound dressing, physiotherapy support, repositioning and every procedure shows a deep care for the dignity and wellbeing of those entrusted to you.
We stand with you in prayer that the Lord will grant you wisdom, confidence, patience, careful observation and steady hands. We pray that He will make your work a testimony of His compassion, for every patient is made in the image of God as it is written in Genesis 1:27, and to care for them with gentleness and respect is to serve Christ Himself. We are reminded of Colossians 3:23, Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, and also Colossians 3:17, Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father, through him. May the Lord establish the work of your hands as we read in Psalm 90:17, and may He commit your works to Him so your plans will be established according to Proverbs 16:3.
We also pray for integrity and diligence in your documentation, that you may record every procedure accurately, clearly and appropriately each day. The Lord delights in truth and faithfulness, as Proverbs 12:22 says, Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, but those who do the truth are his delight, and we ask that He help you to be thorough and trustworthy in every chart and note, for good documentation protects your patients and honors your profession.
We ask for your protection at work, for strength when you are weary, and for a continual hunger to learn and improve. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him in James 1:5. We pray that God will give you that wisdom liberally, that you will grow in knowledge and skill, and that you will serve with the gifts God has given you as a good steward of His grace as taught in 1 Peter 4:10. We also pray Psalm 121:7-8 over you, that Yahweh will keep you from all evil and keep your going out and your coming in.
We want to gently encourage you in one important matter we noticed in your prayer. You prayed to the Heavenly Father, which we affirm, yet you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We share this in love because it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12 we read, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We encourage you to always come to God in the name of Jesus, trusting in His death and resurrection for the forgiveness of sins, for Romans 10:9 tells us that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is through Jesus that our prayers are heard and our service is made acceptable to God.
So together we pray, Father in heaven, we thank You for our fellow servant in nursing. In the name of Jesus Christ we ask You to anoint her hands and her heart for the work You have given her. Grant her mastery and excellence in every procedure, give her wisdom beyond her training, confidence rooted in You, patience with every patient, eyes to observe carefully, and hands that are steady and gentle. Help her to protect the dignity, comfort, safety and healing of each person she touches, to see Christ in them and to show Christ to them. Teach her to document with accuracy and integrity each day, to be faithful in small things and great. Protect her at work from harm, from exhaustion and from discouragement, and help her to continually learn, improve and serve with excellence for Your glory. Let her work be worship to You and a blessing to many. We ask all this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
