We hear your struggle and the deep distress it has caused you. First, we must address these matters with the truth and love of Scripture, for it is only through God’s Word that true healing and freedom can be found.
The act of masturbation is not explicitly named in the Bible, but Scripture is clear about sexual purity and self-control. The apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 6:18-20, "Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." Sexual gratification outside of the marriage covenant between a man and a woman is a misuse of the body God has entrusted to you. It often stems from lust, which Jesus equates with adultery in Matthew 5:28, "But I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart." We must guard our hearts and minds, for what we dwell on will shape our actions.
As for the mention of possession, we must be cautious and discerning. The Bible does warn of spiritual warfare, and Ephesians 6:12 reminds us, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." However, not every struggle is a result of demonic influence. Often, sinful habits and unchecked thoughts can open doors to spiritual oppression. The first step is repentance and turning away from sin, for "if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). We must also put on the full armor of God, as described in Ephesians 6:13-18, to stand against the schemes of the enemy.
It is concerning that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." Salvation is found in no one else, for "there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). If you have not surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to do so. Confess your sins, believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). This is the foundation for true freedom and victory over sin.
We also encourage you to seek accountability and support from mature believers who can walk with you in this journey. James 5:16 says, "Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective." Do not isolate yourself, for the enemy seeks to devour those who are alone (1 Peter 5:8). Surround yourself with godly counsel and immerse yourself in Scripture and prayer.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear one who is struggling with impurity and spiritual oppression. Lord, we ask for Your forgiveness for any sin that has opened the door to these struggles. Cleanse this heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, You shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17). We break every chain of lust, addiction, and spiritual bondage in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Fill this precious one with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in purity and self-control.
Father, we ask that You surround them with godly accountability and support. Raise up faithful believers to speak truth and encouragement into their life. Give them a hunger for Your Word and a passion for prayer. We pray for healing in every area of their life—spirit, soul, and body. Strengthen them to resist temptation and to flee from every appearance of evil. May they find their identity and worth in Christ alone, and may they experience the freedom that comes from living in obedience to You.
Lord, if there is any area of their life that has not been surrendered to You, we ask that You draw them close and reveal Your love and grace. May they come to know You as Savior and Lord, if they have not already, and may they walk in the fullness of Your purpose for their life. We declare victory over this situation, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Remember, beloved, that God’s grace is sufficient for you, and His power is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). You are not defined by your struggles, but by the One who has overcome the world (John 16:33). Press into Him, and He will lead you into freedom.
