We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage in prayer. The Bible tells us that marriage is a sacred covenant, a reflection of Christ’s love for His church. "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and they shall be one flesh" (Genesis 2:24 WEB). This union is not to be taken lightly, for it is a lifelong commitment before God, meant to bring glory to Him and to nurture both husband and wife in love, respect, and holiness.
Father, we ask that You would strengthen this marriage. Where there is strife, bring peace. Where there is misunderstanding, bring clarity. Where there is distance, draw them back together in unity. "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers" (Hebrews 13:4 WEB). We pray against any temptation that seeks to pull this couple apart, whether through unfaithfulness, bitterness, or worldly distractions. Guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
We also lift up each spouse individually. Lord, help them to love one another as You have loved us—selflessly, patiently, and sacrificially. "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it" (Ephesians 5:25 WEB). "Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord" (Ephesians 5:22 WEB). May they submit to one another out of reverence for You, seeking to serve rather than to be served.
If there are areas where this marriage has strayed from Your design—whether through neglect, sin, or ungodly influences—we ask for conviction and repentance. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9 WEB). Bring healing to any wounds, restoration to any brokenness, and renewal to their commitment before You.
We also pray for wisdom in this marriage. May they seek Your will in all things, turning to Your Word for guidance. "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths" (Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB). Let their home be a place of prayer, worship, and godly influence, not just for themselves but for their families and communities.
Finally, Lord, we ask that You would be the foundation of this marriage. Without You, no relationship can truly thrive. "Unless Yahweh builds the house, they labor in vain who build it" (Psalm 127:1 WEB). May they seek You first, and may their love for one another grow deeper as they grow closer to You.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer, we pray. Amen.
