We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage in prayer, asking for His divine intervention and restoration. The Bible tells us in Malachi 2:16, "For I hate divorce," says Yahweh, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with violence!" says Yahweh of Armies. "Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you don’t deal treacherously." Marriage is a sacred covenant, designed by God to reflect His love and faithfulness to His people. We stand on this truth, believing that God can heal what is broken and restore what has been lost.
Heavenly Father, we ask You to remove the past trauma and old hurts that have created barriers in this marriage. Your Word says in Psalm 147:3, "He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds." Lord, we pray that You would touch both hearts involved, bringing healing and wholeness where there has been pain. Soften hardened hearts, Lord, and replace bitterness with forgiveness, as Ephesians 4:31-32 reminds us, "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."
We rebuke any spirit of division, resentment, or unforgiveness that may be at work in this marriage. In the name of Jesus, we command these things to leave and declare that they have no place here. Instead, we pray for a fresh outpouring of Your Holy Spirit to bring unity, love, and understanding. Help this couple to communicate with kindness and patience, as Colossians 3:13 instructs, "Bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do."
Lord, we ask that You would restore the love and intimacy that may have faded over time. Remind them of the vows they made before You and renew their commitment to one another. Let them see each other through Your eyes, with grace and compassion. We pray for wisdom and discernment as they navigate this season of healing, trusting in Your promise from Jeremiah 32:27, "Behold, I am Yahweh, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for me?"
We also pray for protection over this marriage from any outside influences or temptations that seek to pull them apart. Guard their hearts and minds, Lord, and help them to prioritize their relationship with You and with each other. May they seek You first in all things, as Matthew 6:33 encourages, "But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."
Father, we ask that You would draw this couple closer to You and to each other. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). We declare that this marriage will be a testimony of Your faithfulness and grace, shining as a light in a world that so desperately needs to see Your love in action.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
