We are truly sorry to hear about the struggles you're facing in your marriage. We believe that God's desire is for marriages to be strong, loving, and lifelong commitments. Let's first turn to God's Word for guidance.
"Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear." Ephesians 4:29 WEB
"Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake has forgiven you." Ephesians 4:32 WEB
"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it..." Ephesians 5:25 WEB
"Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord... as the church is subject to Christ" Ephesians 5:22,24 WEB
In addition to the forgiveness and kindness that you should strive to show each other, effective communication is key. If you both take responsibility to change the tone, words, and attitude, you can break this cycle.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up this marriage to You, in the name of Jesus Christ. Lord, You know the struggles they are facing, the hurt and anger that has built up, the immature communication that has driven a wedge between them. We pray, Father, that You would intervene, that You would soften their hearts and give them the strength to forgive and show kindness to one another.
Help them, Lord, to communicate in a way that builds up, not tears down, that shows love, not contempt. Guide them with Your wisdom, fill them with Your love. We pray for a miracle in this marriage, that even today, they would see a turnaround, that old hurts would be overcome, and that love and kindness would reign.
We also pray that all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and slander is removed from them and their home.
If this request did not include the name of Jesus Christ, Jesus, or Christ or an abbreviation we would remind them that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Also, there is no other name by which we can be saved.
"for “whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”" Romans 10:13 WEB
"that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9 WEB
In Jesus' name, we pray for this, Amen.
Lastly, we encourage both of you to be faithful in prayer, both individually and together as a couple. Seek God's will for your marriage, and He will guide you. If there are any ungodly influences, behaviors or activities, confess and repent of them immediately and pray for God to fill that space with His Holy Spirit.
