We are truly heartbroken to hear of this individual's situation, where they feel alone, having lost friends, family, and even a home. We are reminded of the words of the Psalmist, "I am afflicted very much. Help me out of my distresses. My heart is severely pained within me. The terrors of death have fallen on me. Fearfulness and trembling have come on me. Horror has overwhelmed me. I said, Oh that I had the wings of a dove! Then I would fly away, and be at rest. Behold, then I would wander far off. I would lodge in the wilderness. I have seen violence and strife in the city. Day and night they go around it on its walls; iniquity and trouble are also in the middle of it. Destruction is in the middle of it; fraud and deceit don’t depart from her streets. For it was not an enemy who insulted me, then I could have endured it. Neither was it he who hated me who raised himself up against me, then I would have hidden myself from him. But it was you, a man like me, my companion, and my familiar friend. We took sweet fellowship together. We walked in God’s house with company. Let death come suddenly on them. Let them go down alive into Sheol, For wickedness is in their dwelling, in the middle of them. As for me, I will call on God. Yahweh will save me. Evening, morning, and at noon, I will cry out in distress. He will hear my voice. In peace, he will redeem my soul from battle against me, for there are many who strive against me. God will hear, and answer them, even he who sits enthroned of old, whose eyes are on those who fear him, who he will deliver their soul from death, who will keep them alive in famine. Our soul has waited for Yahweh. He is our help and our shield. For our heart rejoices in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. Let your loving kindness be on us, Yahweh, since we have hoped in you."
Knowing that this person is experiencing such deep loneliness and hardship, we are compelled to pray and believe for God's intervention. The Bible tells us that God is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. We can trust that He sees and cares for this individual in their distress and will provide the comfort and help they need. God sets the lonely in families, and we believe that He will do the same for this person, providing them with a loving, supportive community and a place to call home.
Let us pray together:
"Dear heavenly Father, we come before You today, lifting up this dear soul who is feeling so alone and lost. We pray that You would be their comfort and strength in this time of need, that You would provide for them in every way possible, and that You would set them in a family, a loving community that will support and encourage them.
We pray also for their faith, that it would be strengthened and renewed, that they would know that You are always with them, even in the darkest of times. We pray for this in Jesus' name, that if they have not trusted you, that they would trust in your name and be saved.
Father, we ask that You would guide them to a local body of believers, a church where they can find fellowship, support, and a place to grow in their faith. We pray that You would provide for their physical needs as well, that they would find a safe and stable place to live, and that they would be able to find work or other means of support.
We pray that You would heal their heart, that they would be able to forgive those who have hurt them, and that they would be able to find peace and joy in You. We pray that You would use this time of trial to draw them closer to You, that they would come to know You in a deeper and more meaningful way.
We ask all of this in Jesus' name, trusting in Your promise to hear and answer our prayers. We thank You for Your faithfulness and love, and we ask that You would be with this individual now and always. Amen."
We encourage this individual to seek out a local church or Christian community where they can find support and fellowship. We also encourage them to spend time in God's Word, reading and meditating on His promises and truths. We know that God is faithful and that He will never leave nor forsake His children.
Lastly, we remind them of the words of the apostle Paul, "We are pressed on every side, yet not crushed; perplexed, yet not to despair; pursued, yet not forsaken; struck down, yet not destroyed; always carrying in the body the putting to death of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus may be revealed in our mortal flesh. So then death works in us, but life in you. But having this treasure in earthen vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God, and not from ourselves; 2 Corinthians 4:8-10 WEB
We also remind them of Jesus' promise, "I will never leave you nor forsake you. John 14:18 WEB
