We are truly saddened to hear about this marriage facing difficulties, but we are heartened to see that you are turning to God for help. Marriage is a sacred covenant, a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, ordained by God, "Therefore what God has joined together, let no man separate" (Mark 10:9 WEB).
Firstly, we commend your for praying in Jesus' name. "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5 WEB).
We stand with you in prayer for this marriage to be restored and for God's will to be done. We pray that God turns both of their hearts back towards each other and most importantly back to God, "For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil" (1 Peter 3:12 WEB).
We pray for forgiveness, reconciliation, and a restoration of love and trust in this marriage. "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you" (Ephesians 4:31-32 WEB).
We pray for peace and unity to return and for their children to experience the love, trust, and security that comes from a stable home. "But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female. For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will join to his wife, and the two will become one flesh, so that they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate" (Mark 10:6-9 WEB).
We pray for their children and ask God to bless them and help them through this difficult time. "But Jesus said, Suffer the little children, and do not forbid them to come to me; for to such belongs the Kingdom of Heaven" (Matthew 19:14 WEB).
We pray for the restoration of God's plan for their marriage and family and that this couple will come to love and serve God and each other. We ask both of them seek the Lord, repent, and turn from their sins. "But if the wicked turn from his sins that he has committed and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die. None of his sins that he has committed shall be remembered against him: in his righteousness that he has done he shall live" (Ezekiel 3:21-22 WEB).
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you today to lift up this marriage and family to you. We pray for your healing, restoration, and guidance in their lives. We pray that you turn both of their hearts back towards each other and most importantly back to you. We pray for forgiveness, reconciliation, and a restoration of love and trust in this marriage. We pray for peace and unity to return and for their children to experience the love, trust, and security that comes from a stable home. We pray for the restoration of your plan for their marriage and family. We ask both of them seek the Lord, repent, and turn from their sins.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage both of them to trust in the Lord with all their heart; and lean not on their own understanding. In all their ways acknowledge him, and he will make their paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB). We encourage them to seek a godly marriage counselor to help them through this process and to have faith and patience in God's plan for their lives.
