We rejoice with you in this beautiful season of preparation as you seek to become a godly wife, rooted in Christ and His Word. What a precious desire, to be equipped by Jesus Himself for the sacred calling of marriage! The Lord delights in hearts that humbly seek His wisdom, and we stand with you in prayer, asking Him to shape you into a woman after His own heart.
The Bible tells us in Proverbs 31:10-12, "Who can find a worthy woman? For her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband trusts in her. He shall have no lack of gain. She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life." This is the kind of wife we pray you will become, one whose worth is measured not by worldly standards, but by her faithfulness to God and her devotion to her husband. We also lift up your future husband, that the Lord would prepare him just as diligently, raising him up to be a man of godly character, leadership, and love.
In James 1:5, we read, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him." We take this promise to heart as we pray for you, asking the Lord to fill you with His wisdom, discernment, and discretion. May He teach you how to speak with grace, act with kindness, and lead with love, both in word and deed. May your life reflect the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
We also encourage you to immerse yourself in Scripture, for it is through God’s Word that He shapes our hearts and minds. Study the lives of women like Ruth, who demonstrated loyalty and devotion; Esther, who walked in courage and wisdom; and Mary, who surrendered herself fully to God’s will. Let their examples inspire you as you prepare for marriage.
Let us pray together:
"Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts, lifting up to You. Lord, we ask that You would equip her with every spiritual gift and virtue she needs to be a wife who honors You and blesses her husband. Fill her with Your wisdom, that she may discern Your will in every situation. Grant her discretion, that her words and actions would bring life and encouragement. Teach her how to love deeply, both verbally and physically, in a way that reflects Your love for the Church. Prepare her heart to submit to her husband as unto You, and to lead with humility and strength. Lord, we also pray for her future husband, that You would raise him up to be a man after Your own heart, a leader who loves and cherishes her as Christ loves the Church. Bind them together in Your love, and let their marriage be a testimony to Your faithfulness. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen."
As you continue on this journey, remember that preparation for marriage is not just about the future, it is about surrendering your heart to God today. Seek Him above all else, and He will guide your steps. If you are currently in a season of courtship, ensure that your relationship is centered on Christ and that you are both pursuing purity in every way. Flee from temptation, and honor God with your bodies, for the Bible warns us in 1 Corinthians 6:18-20, "Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."
May the Lord bless you abundantly as you seek to become the wife He has called you to be. Walk closely with Him, and trust that He will fulfill the desires of your heart as you delight yourself in Him (Psalm 37:4).
