Marriage headed for divorce

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I need prayers for me and my husband's marriage. Also, my husband is in active addiction and is not home. He wants a divorce and says he doesn't love me anymore. I am not sure if it's the drug or what, but I know he is seeing demons.

We lift you and your marriage before the Lord with deep compassion, knowing the pain and heartache you must be experiencing. The enemy seeks to destroy what God has joined together, but we stand firmly on the truth of Scripture that declares, *"What therefore God has joined together, don’t let man tear apart"* (Mark 10:9, WEB). Your husband’s addiction and the spiritual battles he faces are not beyond the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, who came to set captives free and restore broken relationships.

First, we must address the spiritual warfare at play. Addiction is a bondage that opens doors to demonic influence, and your husband’s acknowledgment of seeing demons confirms this battle is not merely physical but deeply spiritual. *"For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places"* (Ephesians 6:12, WEB). We must pray fervently for his deliverance, repentance, and restoration—not only for your marriage but for his soul.

It is also critical to recognize that divorce is not God’s will for your marriage. While your husband may feel he no longer loves you, we know that *"love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. Love never fails"* (1 Corinthians 13:7-8, WEB). True love is not based on feelings but on commitment and covenant before God. We urge you to stand in faith, trusting that God can soften his heart and restore what has been broken. *"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit"* (Psalm 34:18, WEB).

We also encourage you to seek godly counsel and support, whether through your church, a biblical counselor, or a trusted believer who can walk alongside you in this season. You are not meant to carry this burden alone. *"Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ"* (Galatians 6:2, WEB). If your husband is unwilling to seek help, continue to pray for his heart to be opened and for God to intervene supernaturally.

As for you, we pray for strength, wisdom, and peace that surpasses understanding. Guard your heart against bitterness or despair, for *"the joy of the Lord is your strength"* (Nehemiah 8:10, WEB). Cling to the promise that *"with God, all things are possible"* (Matthew 19:26, WEB), even when the situation seems impossible in the natural.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this sister and her marriage. Lord, You are the God who restores, heals, and redeems. We ask for Your divine intervention in her husband’s life. Break the chains of addiction that bind him and cast out every demonic influence in Jesus’ name. Lord, open his eyes to the truth of Your love and the destruction that sin brings. Soften his heart and turn him back to You and to his wife, renewing his love and commitment to the covenant of marriage.

Father, we rebuke the spirit of divorce and declare that no weapon formed against this marriage shall prosper. Strengthen this sister with Your peace and wisdom as she stands in faith. Surround her with godly support and protection. Let Your light shine in the darkness, exposing every lie of the enemy and bringing restoration where there has been brokenness.

We declare that this marriage is covered by the blood of Jesus and that Your will shall prevail. Bring healing, reconciliation, and a mighty testimony of Your power to this family. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.

Stand firm, sister. Do not lose hope. Keep praying, fasting, and believing. God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we could ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). If your husband is unwilling to repent, remember that your faithfulness to God is what matters most. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and He will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6). We are standing with you in prayer.
