Disciple of Prayer
My family is in chaos these days. Please pray for my son who is working in the woods in feel like over 100 degrees. He comes home sick and wet everyday. Needs his boss to figure out it's dangerous to be working so late in the day or a new job that he will enjoy and still earn his own living. My eldest granddaughter is totally controlled by her boyfriend to the point he convinced her to stay home and take care of him and the house and the multitude of pets they have so she has to ask him for money to pay her personal bills.. Please, also pray that my husband, sons, and grandchildren all come to know the Lord Jesus.

We lift your family before the Lord, knowing that He is the God of order, not chaos, and that He cares deeply for each of you. Your burdens are heavy, but we serve a God who invites us to cast all our anxieties on Him because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). Let us address each of these concerns with the truth of Scripture and pray earnestly for His intervention and will to be done in every situation.

First, we pray for your son who is laboring in dangerous heat. The Lord sees his hard work and knows the toll it takes on his body. We ask God to protect him from heat exhaustion, dehydration, and any harm, for His Word reminds us that *"a worker’s appetite works for him, for his hunger urges him on"* (Proverbs 16:26). Yet, we also know that God calls employers to treat their workers justly and with compassion. We pray that the Lord would convict his boss to adjust the work hours for the safety of all employees or that He would open the door to a new job—one that provides not just income but also dignity, joy, and fair conditions. *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men"* (Colossians 3:23), and we ask that your son would find work that honors this principle. May the Lord provide wisdom and favor as your son seeks better opportunities, remembering that *"unless the Lord builds the house, they who build it labor in vain"* (Psalm 127:1).

Next, we turn to the situation with your granddaughter. It is deeply concerning to hear that she is being controlled by her boyfriend to the point of financial and personal dependence. This is not the design God intended for relationships. Scripture warns us that *"the borrower is servant to the lender"* (Proverbs 22:7), and in this case, it seems she has been placed in a form of servitude that is neither godly nor healthy. A relationship where one person dominates the other—especially to the extent that she must ask for money for her own needs—is not rooted in the mutual love and respect that Christ calls us to. *"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for her"* (Ephesians 5:25). Though they are not married, this standard of selfless, sacrificial love should still be the goal for those who claim to follow Christ. If this young man is not a believer, we urge you to pray fervently for her spiritual protection, as *"do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?"* (2 Corinthians 6:14). We pray that your granddaughter would recognize her worth in Christ and that He would give her the strength to break free from this unhealthy dynamic. May the Lord open her eyes to the truth that *"where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty"* (2 Corinthians 3:17) and that she is called to a life of purpose, not confinement. We also pray that if this relationship cannot be redeemed, God would give her the courage to walk away and trust Him for her future.

Most importantly, we join you in praying for the salvation of your husband, sons, and grandchildren. There is no greater gift than knowing Christ, and we know that your heart’s deepest desire is for them to come to faith. *"The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but he is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance"* (2 Peter 3:9). We claim this promise over your family, asking the Lord to soften their hearts and draw them to Himself. We pray that you would have opportunities to share the Gospel with them in love and that the Holy Spirit would convict them of their need for a Savior. *"How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?"* (Romans 10:14). May you be that faithful witness in their lives, and may the Lord give you the words to speak. We also pray that He would place other believers in their paths to reinforce the truth of the Gospel.

Finally, we notice that your request did not invoke the name of Jesus, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me'* (John 14:6). There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is in His name that we boldly approach the throne of grace. We encourage you to always pray in the name of Jesus, for He is our Mediator and Advocate before God.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this family and their many needs. Lord, You are the God of peace, and we ask You to bring order to the chaos they are experiencing. We pray for this mother’s son, who is laboring in extreme heat. Protect him, Lord, from harm and exhaustion. Provide him with strength and endurance, and we ask that You would move in the heart of his employer to create safer working conditions. If that is not Your will, then open the doors to a new job—one that brings him joy, fulfillment, and fair compensation. May he seek You first in all things, trusting that You will provide for his needs.

Lord, we also lift up this granddaughter who is trapped in an unhealthy and controlling relationship. Father, break the chains of manipulation and dependence that bind her. Give her the wisdom to see the truth of her situation and the courage to step into the freedom You have called her to. If this relationship is not of You, Lord, sever it completely. Surround her with godly influences who will speak life and truth into her. Remind her that she is Your daughter, fearfully and wonderfully made, and that her worth is found in You alone.

Most of all, Father, we cry out for the salvation of this entire family. Draw them to Yourself, Lord. Soften their hearts to receive the truth of the Gospel. Give this mother the words and the opportunities to share Your love with them. Raise up a standard against the enemy who seeks to keep them in darkness. Let them encounter You in undeniable ways, so that they may turn from their sins and place their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayers. We trust in Your goodness and Your perfect timing. May Your will be done in each of these situations, and may Your name be glorified. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Dear friend,

We're here with you, lifting your family up to the Lord. We know He sees your son toiling in the heat, and we join you in praying for his protection and strength. We ask that his employer would have a change of heart, ensuring safe working conditions or opening doors to a new job that brings him joy and fulfillment. We trust that God will provide for his needs as he seeks Him first.

For your granddaughter, we pray that the Lord would break the chains of control and dependence that bind her. We ask that He would give her the wisdom to see the truth of her situation and the courage to step into the freedom He has called her to. If this relationship is not of Him, Lord, we ask that You would sever it completely. Surround her with godly influences who will speak life and truth into her, reminding her of her worth in You.

But above all, we cry out for the salvation of your husband, ###, and grandchildren. Draw them to Yourself, Lord. Soften their hearts to receive the truth of the Gospel. Give this mother the words and opportunities to share Your love with them. Raise up a standard against the enemy who seeks to keep them in darkness. Let them encounter You in undeniable ways, so that they may turn from their sins and place their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

We trust in Your goodness and perfect timing, Father. May Your will be done in each of these situations, and may Your name be glorified. In Jesus' precious and powerful name, we pray. Amen.
