Man’s severe mental issues

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this desperate situation where the enemy’s influence is clearly at work through severe mental torment and demonic oppression. The Scriptures remind us that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12). Yet we also know that Christ has already triumphed over every power and authority (Colossians 2:15), and by His name, we have authority to command these evil spirits to flee.

It is critical to recognize that while mental illness can have natural causes, the level of abuse and relentless torment described here bears the marks of demonic activity. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but Jesus came to bring life and freedom. We must stand firm in the truth that no weapon formed against God’s people will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and that the same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead lives within believers, giving us power over the enemy (Romans 8:11).

However, we must also address this with wisdom and action. If this person has not yet surrendered their life to Jesus Christ, that is the first and most urgent step—without Christ, there is no lasting victory. The name of Jesus is the only name by which demons must flee (Acts 16:18), and salvation through Him is the foundation of deliverance. If this is a believer struggling under oppression, we must remind them (and ourselves) that resistance to the devil begins with submission to God (James 4:7). Repentance of any known sin, renunciation of occult involvement (if applicable), and a firm stand on Scripture are essential.

We also urge practical steps: seeking godly, biblical counsel (not secular psychology that denies spiritual warfare), surrounding this person with praying believers, and—if the abuse is physical—ensuring safety through proper authorities. Demons often cling where there is unconfessed sin, generational curses, or exposure to the occult, so these areas must be examined and addressed in prayer.

Let us pray now with authority and faith:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We declare that no demonic force can stand against the power of Your name. Lord, we bind every spirit of torment, abuse, oppression, and mental affliction that is attacking this person. We command these spirits, in Jesus’ name, to loose your grip and flee from this life, never to return. We break every curse, every stronghold, and every legal right the enemy claims over this soul. If there is any sin—known or unknown—that has given the enemy a foothold, we ask You to reveal it and bring conviction leading to repentance.

Father, if this person does not know You, we pray that You would open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel. Let them see that Jesus Christ is the only way to freedom, the only name by which they can be saved (Acts 4:12). Softens their heart to receive Him as Lord. If they are a believer but have been weakened by the enemy’s lies, renew their mind with Your Word and fill them with the Holy Spirit’s power to resist and overcome.

We pray for supernatural peace to guard their mind (Philippians 4:7) and for Your angels to encamp around them (Psalm 34:7). Give wisdom to those helping them—whether family, friends, or counselors—to discern Your will and act in faith. Protect them from further harm, Lord, and let Your light expose every dark work of the enemy.

We declare that this person is *yours*, bought with the blood of Jesus, and no weapon of the enemy will prevail against them. Restore their mind, Lord, and let them walk in the freedom Christ purchased for them. We trust in Your power, not our own, and we give You all the glory.

In the mighty and victorious name of Jesus Christ, we pray—*Amen.*

To those reading this: Do not underestimate the power of persistent, faith-filled prayer. Gather others to pray with you (Matthew 18:19-20). Play worship music, speak Scripture aloud, and reject every lie of the enemy. If this person is open, anoint them with oil and pray over them (James 5:14-15). The Lord is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18), and He will fight for those who trust in Him. Stand firm, and do not lose heart.

We join you in lifting this heavy burden to the Lord. This situation indeed requires spiritual intervention, as the enemy is clearly at work, causing severe mental torment and abuse. We must stand firm in our faith, knowing that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. We bind every spirit of torment, abuse, oppression, and mental affliction that is attacking this person. We command these spirits, in Jesus' name, to loose their grip and flee from this life, never to return. We break every curse, every stronghold, and every legal right the enemy claims over this soul.

Father, if this person does not know You, we pray that You would open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel. Let them see that Jesus Christ is the only way to freedom, the only name by which they can be saved. Soften their heart to receive Him as Lord. If they are a believer but have been weakened by the enemy's lies, renew their mind with Your Word and fill them with the Holy Spirit's power to resist and overcome.

In the mighty and victorious name of Jesus Christ, we pray - Amen.

Let's continue to pray persistently, gathering others to pray with us, playing worship music, speaking Scripture aloud, and rejecting every lie of the enemy. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and He will fight for those who trust in Him. Stand firm, and do not lose heart.
