Man is mentally ill

Anonymous

Beloved of All
He wants me dead

He chases me in my dreams every night

It does not matter

There is no possibility of peace with this person

He has to die

We are deeply grieved to hear of the torment and fear you are enduring, and we want you to know that you are not alone in this struggle. The Lord sees your suffering, and He is a God of justice, protection, and deliverance. The fear and oppression you describe are not from Him, for He has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but Jesus came to give life abundantly. We must stand firmly on this truth and resist the lies and attacks of the evil one.

First, we must address the statement that this person "has to die." While we understand the depth of your pain and the desperation you feel, we must firmly and lovingly rebuke this thought. Life is sacred, created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27), and vengeance belongs to the Lord alone (Romans 12:19). The Bible commands us, "You shall not murder" (Exodus 20:13), and Jesus teaches us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us (Matthew 5:44). This does not mean you must tolerate abuse or remain in harm’s way, but it does mean we must surrender our pain and desire for justice to God, trusting Him to act righteously. He is the only just judge, and He will repay (Hebrews 10:30). Your heart and mind must be guarded against thoughts of violence or retaliation, for such thoughts can open doors to further spiritual oppression. Instead, we must ask the Lord to break the power of hatred, fear, and bitterness in your heart and replace it with His peace and protection.

The fact that this man is mentally ill does not excuse his actions, but it does remind us that we are in a spiritual battle. Ephesians 6:12 tells us, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." Mental illness can be influenced by spiritual forces, and we must pray for God’s intervention in this man’s life as well. While we pray for your protection, we also pray for his soul, that God would deliver him from the bondage he is under and bring him to repentance. This is not for his sake alone but for yours as well, so that the cycle of torment may be broken.

The nightly dreams you describe are a form of spiritual attack, and we must take authority over them in the name of Jesus. Dreams can be a battlefield for the mind, and the enemy often uses them to instill fear, confusion, and despair. But Psalm 91:5-6 assures us, "You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day; nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that wastes at noonday." Claim this promise over your life. Before you sleep, pray for God’s protection over your mind and ask Him to surround you with His angels (Psalm 34:7). You may also anoint your home with oil as a symbolic act of consecration to the Lord, declaring that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

We also urge you to seek practical help. If you have not already, contact local authorities or organizations that can provide protection and support for victims of harassment or threats. The Lord often uses people and systems to bring about justice and safety. Additionally, seek out a trusted pastor or biblical counselor who can walk with you through this season, providing prayer, wisdom, and accountability. You do not have to face this alone, and isolation can make the spiritual battle even harder.

Lastly, we must ask: where is your hope in all of this? If your focus is solely on the torment and the man who seeks your harm, you will remain in bondage to fear. But if you fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2), you will find strength to endure and even overcome. Romans 8:31 asks, "If God is for us, who can be against us?" No weapon, no threat, no spiritual attack can separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:38-39). He is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).

Let us pray together for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up Your beloved child who is under such relentless attack. Lord, You see the torment, the fear, and the despair they are facing, and You are not silent. You are a God who hears the cries of the afflicted, and You act on behalf of those who call upon Your name. We ask You to surround this precious one with Your angels, encamping around them to guard and protect them from every evil scheme of the enemy. Lord, rebuke the powers of darkness that are at work in these nightly attacks. Let no weapon formed against them prosper, and let every tongue that rises against them in judgment be condemned (Isaiah 54:17). Fill their mind with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and guard their heart and thoughts in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

Father, we also lift up this man who is bound by mental illness and spiritual oppression. Lord, we do not excuse his actions, but we ask that You would intervene in his life. Break the chains of darkness that hold him captive, and if it is Your will, bring him to a place of repentance and healing. Lord, only You can change a heart of stone into a heart of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26), and we pray for Your mercy to triumph over judgment in his life. Protect our sister or brother from his harm, and if necessary, Lord, remove him from their life entirely. Place a hedge of protection around them that no evil can penetrate.

We declare that the blood of Jesus covers this situation. Every curse, every threat, every spiritual attack is broken in the name of Jesus. We bind the spirit of fear, the spirit of death, and the spirit of torment, and we loose the peace of God, the joy of the Lord, and the power of the Holy Spirit to fill every area of their life. Father, give them wisdom to know what steps to take, and provide them with godly counselors and authorities who can help bring an end to this oppression. Let them walk in the confidence that You are their defender, their shield, and their high tower (Psalm 91:1-2).

Lord, we ask that You would restore their sleep, that their nights would no longer be filled with terror but with Your presence. Let them dream dreams from You, dreams of hope and restoration (Joel 2:28). Fill their heart with Your Word, and let it be a lamp to their feet and a light to their path (Psalm 119:105). Remind them that You are with them always, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20), and that nothing can separate them from Your love.

In the name of Jesus, we command every demonic stronghold over their mind and life to be broken. We speak life, healing, and deliverance into their situation. Lord, let Your will be done, and let Your kingdom come in this circumstance. We trust You, Father, and we thank You for Your faithfulness. May Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus. We pray all these things in the powerful and mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Beloved, we urge you to cling to the Lord in this season. Read His Word daily, especially the Psalms, which are filled with cries for help and declarations of God’s faithfulness. Memorize scriptures of protection and declare them over your life. Surround yourself with believers who can pray with you and stand in the gap for you. Do not let fear silence your prayers or your praise. The Lord inhabits the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3), and when you worship, the enemy flees.

If you have not already, we strongly encourage you to examine your heart and ensure that you have surrendered your life fully to Jesus Christ. There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and the power to overcome the enemy. If you have not yet received Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). There is no greater protection than being hidden in Christ.

Stand firm, dear one. The battle is the Lord’s, and He has already won the victory. Trust in Him, and He will deliver you.

The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but we stand firm in the truth that Christ has already overcome the darkness, and He is your refuge and strength in this time of fear.

We are grateful you allowed us to come alongside you in prayer, and we want you to know we have not forgotten you. The Lord hears the cries of His children, and we trust He is working even now—whether to bring deliverance from this oppression, to surround you with His peace that surpasses understanding, or to break the power of these nightmares that plague you. His ways are higher than ours, and His timing is perfect.

If God has brought relief or breakthrough, we would love for you to share a praise report so we can rejoice with you over His faithfulness. If this battle persists, please do not hesitate to post again so we can continue to intercede with you, this time with even greater fervor. We are here to stand in the gap, to remind you that you are not alone, and to declare God’s protection over your mind, your spirit, and your life.

Keep seeking Him, clinging to His promises, and resting in the truth that He is your shield and your strong tower. We are praying for you still. In Jesus’ name.
