You know the weariness of repeating the same sin, and you long to be free. That longing itself is a sign of a new nature at work in you. When someone who belongs to Christ falls into lust, it brings misery, not lasting pleasure, because the Spirit within opposes the flesh. You are not comfortable there, and that is good. The real danger would be if you could sin without a conscience, without remorse. But you cannot, because God has given you a new heart.
Confession is your immediate path to relief. David carried his guilt in silence until his bones wasted away, but when he finally said, “I have sinned against the Lord,” he heard the swift reply: “The Lord has put away your sin.” You do not need to hide or minimize what you have done. Bring it into the light before God, name it for what it is, and receive His cleansing. He already knows every thought that led to the act, and still He is faithful to forgive. The blood of Jesus does not just cover sin; it removes it. Your sin is not bigger than His grace.
The battle is real, but do not trust in your own willpower to overcome. Every time you think you are strong enough to handle temptation on your own, you are in the gravest danger. God’s strength is perfected in your weakness. When you admit, “Lord, I cannot handle this,” then He can do what you cannot. Trust in Him, not in your resolutions or self-discipline. He will give you strength, and He will bless you with peace.
