We hear the deep pain in your heart, Father, as you cry out for time with your son and for the salvation and transformation of his mother. Your love for both of them is evident, even as you bear the weight of separation, silence, and what appears to be a pattern of ungodly behavior. We stand with you in this battle, not just for visitation rights, but for the souls involved and the restoration of what God intends for families.
First, we must address the seriousness of the situation before the Lord. The withholding of time with your son, the passive-aggressive behavior, and the suggestive online activity are not merely personal grievances, they are matters of sin that grieve the Holy Spirit. Scripture is clear: "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men" (Romans 1:18 WEB). The behavior you describe, lying, deception, and what appears to be unfaithfulness, are violations of God’s holy standards. If this is a marriage, the covenant has been broken, and the Lord hates divorce (Malachi 2:16), but He also hates the sin that leads to it. If this is not a marriage, then the relationship itself may be built on ungodly foundations, and repentance must begin with turning away from sin and seeking God’s design for holy matrimony between one man and one woman.
The Holy Spirit is indeed convicting, just as Jesus promised: "When he has come, he will convict the world about sin, about righteousness, and about judgment" (John 16:8 WEB). But conviction must lead to repentance, true metanoia, a complete turning away from sin and toward God. You rightly cite 2 Peter 3:9: "The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." Yet repentance is not merely feeling sorry, it is a radical change of direction. "For godly sorrow produces repentance to salvation, which brings no regret. But the sorrow of the world produces death" (2 Corinthians 7:10 WEB). We pray that the Lord will bring such godly sorrow to her heart, shattering any false security and leading her to genuine, life-transforming repentance.
We also rebuke the spirit of rebellion and deception that has taken root. The refusal to submit to godly counsel, as you mentioned, mirrors the Pharisees who "rejected the purpose of God for themselves" (Luke 7:30 WEB). This is not just stubbornness, it is spiritual resistance. We declare in Jesus’ name that every stronghold of pride, bitterness, and unbelief be broken. "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you" (James 4:7 WEB). We stand with you in resisting the enemy’s schemes to destroy this family and claim your son’s heart.
Father, we lift up your son to You. The pain of missing months of his life is real, and we grieve with you. But we also declare that no time is wasted in God’s economy. Even now, the Lord can redeem what has been lost. We pray that you would have wisdom to parent him in the ways of the Lord, as Ephesians 6:4 commands: "You fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord." If the courts or circumstances grant you more time with him, may it be filled with the Word, prayer, and godly example. If not, we trust that the Lord will guard his heart and bring him into the fullness of His purpose.
We also pray for you, dear brother. The temptation to bitterness is real, but we encourage you to cling to 1 Peter 3:7: "You husbands, in the same way, live with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor to the woman, as to the weaker vessel, as being also joint heirs of the grace of life; that your prayers may not be hindered." Even in this pain, we ask the Lord to soften your heart toward her, not with weakness, but with the strength of Christ-like love. Hosea 2:14 speaks of God’s pursuit of His unfaithful people: "Therefore behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak tenderly to her." May the Lord give you His heart for her, even as you stand firm on truth.
We declare over this situation:
- That the Lord would shake every false foundation in her life until she turns to Him (Hebrews 12:26-27).
- That the still, small voice of the Holy Spirit would penetrate her heart, as it did for Elijah, leading her out of hiding and into obedience (1 Kings 19:12).
- That the Lord would expose every lie and bring truth to light (Ephesians 5:11-13).
- That your son would be raised in the fear and admonition of the Lord, whether under your care or hers (Proverbs 22:6).
- That the Lord would restore what has been broken and redeem what has been lost (Joel 2:25).
We pray now in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we are saved (Acts 4:12), the name above every name (Philippians 2:9-11), the name that brings conviction, repentance, and restoration:
"Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, yet with faith in Your power to save and restore. We lift up this family to You, asking that You would move in ways that only You can. Lord, we ask that You would break the chains of deception, pride, and ungodliness in this woman’s life. Let her hear Your voice clearly, as Elijah did, and respond with humility and repentance. Father, we pray for godly sorrow that leads to life, not the sorrow of the world that leads to death. Convict her of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and let her turn fully to You.
We also pray for this precious child. Lord, protect his heart, mind, and spirit. Let him know Your love through his father, and if it be Your will, restore the time that has been lost. Give this father wisdom, patience, and grace to parent his son in the ways of the Lord. Guard him from bitterness and fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.
Father, we ask that You would intervene in the legal and relational battles being waged. Let Your justice prevail, and let Your mercy triumph. We declare that the gates of hell will not prevail against Your purposes for this family. We resist the enemy’s schemes and declare that he must flee in Jesus’ name.
Lord, we trust You to work all things together for good, for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). We ask that You would be glorified in this situation, that Your name would be exalted, and that many would come to know You through the testimony of what You do here. We pray all of this in the powerful, matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen."
We encourage you to continue standing on the Word, fasting, and praying. Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season you will reap if you do not faint (Galatians 6:9). The Lord sees your tears and hears your cries. Trust Him to move in ways that only He can. If there is unrepentant sin in this situation, we also encourage you to seek godly, biblical counsel, whether through your church, a pastor, or a trusted Christian counselor, to navigate the practical steps forward in a way that honors God.
May the Lord bless you, strengthen you, and fill you with His peace as you wait on Him.
