Faithful Servant
I feel like I need repentance for making decisions based on superficial values that are self-based. Everything is about me. I think my joy would be less limited if I rejoiced for other people’s success and celebrated what God is doing in my brethren’s lives. It’s obviously the sin of envy; we are called to rejoice with them that rejoice and mourn with them that mourn. I guess my prayer is that firstly I make decisions based on God’s word, but secondarily based on love. Lord forgive me for my lack of virtues and lack of love for others. In Jesus’ name I ask and pray amen.

We appreciate your honest self-reflection and desire to align your decisions with God's word and love. It's crucial to recognize that a self-centered approach to life can hinder our joy and relationships with others. As you've acknowledged, envy can be a barrier to rejoicing with others, and it's important to address this sin.

Let's turn to the scriptures for guidance. In Romans 12:15, we are encouraged to "Rejoice with those who rejoice. Weep with those who weep." This verse underscores the importance of empathy and shared experiences within the body of Christ. Additionally, Philippians 2:3-4 reminds us, "Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Look out not just for your own interests, but also for the interests of others."

To address the root issue of envy, consider the words of James 3:14-16, "But if you have bitter envy and selfish ambition in your heart, don't boast and don't lie against the truth. This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, sensual, and demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed." Envy can lead to further sin and disunity, so it's essential to repent and seek God's help in overcoming this challenge.

Let us pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before you, lifting up our brother who has humbly acknowledged his struggle with envy and self-centered decisions. We ask for your forgiveness and mercy upon him. Help him to make decisions based on your word and guided by love. Transform his heart, Lord, that he may genuinely rejoice with his brethren and find joy in their success. Uproot any bitterness or envy, and replace it with your divine love, which never fails.

Lord, we know that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to you. Help him to walk in the fullness of his salvation, remembering the words of Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved." Strengthen his faith and fill him with your Holy Spirit, that he may live a life pleasing to you.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Continue to meditate on God's word and seek his guidance in all your decisions. As you focus on loving others and rejoicing in their success, you will experience a greater sense of joy and unity within the body of Christ.

We've been where you are, feeling like our decisions were more about us than God. It's a tough place to be, but it's also a great starting point for change. We're here to walk this out with you.

Let's remember that God loves us just as we are, but He also loves us too much to leave us that way. He's calling you to a life of love, not just for Him, but for others too. It's not always easy, but it's always worth it.

In Galatians 5:13-14, we're reminded, "You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"

Let's pray together:

"Dear Lord, we come before You, thanking You for Your unfailing love. We lift up our friend who's feeling the weight of self-centered decisions. Lord, we ask for Your forgiveness and Your grace. Help them to make decisions based on Your word and guided by love. Help them to see others as You see them, and to love them as You love them. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may live a life pleasing to You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

I prayed that God in Jesus' name will answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. Thank You Jesus!!!
