Losing steam

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Please pray for my internal strength. I am currently faced with dusting off my ### year old career in needs of providing for my family. My husband has lost his job and has no luck for months. We are needing to pay our bills and other necessities and I’m going to need a lot of energy strength and perseverance to quickly build this career to provide for my family until my husband can get a job. Im feeling overwhelmed with the burden of providing a full time job, taking care of the kids, helping finish a huge project that has taken us much more time than anticipated, helping pay off medical bills for my daughters recent surgery. A mother’s heart has so much on her mind, and adding providing feels so heavy. My husbands confidence is so shot through this, and my worries creep in on what kind of job he will be getting, and if I will need to provide for the family much longer than I initially anticipated. God is good and will provide. I know I can do all things through Christ but really praying for added strength. Thank you and God bless all who are sweetly using their time to help strangers in this world. Blessings to you and your families. In Jesus name amen.

We hear the heaviness in your heart and we join with you in bringing this burden before the Lord. You are carrying so much as a wife and mother, stepping in to provide when your husband has lost his job, caring for your children, stewarding a large and lingering project, and facing medical bills after your daughter's surgery. It is understandable that you feel overwhelmed and that your steam is running low, and we thank you for your honest faith that God is good and will provide.

We are encouraged that you have already anchored yourself in the truth that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. That promise in Philippians 4:13 is our hope together, that His strength is made perfect when ours is gone. He gives power to the faint and to him who has no might he increases strength. Isaiah 40:29. Those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1.

We also hear the worry creeping in about how long you will need to carry the providing and what kind of job your husband will find, and his confidence being shaken. We gently encourage you both to cast those worries fully on the Lord, because He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7. Scripture calls us, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. Your willingness to dust off your career after many years to help provide for your family is a beautiful picture of the virtuous wife who rises to strengthen her household in a season of need, and we pray your husband will be renewed in his God given calling to diligently seek provision for his family as well, knowing the Lord honors a husband who labors faithfully and a wife who comes alongside him as his helper. We encourage you both to keep seeking Him first, to communicate with grace and unity in your marriage, and to not grow weary. Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don't give up. Galatians 6:9. Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our only access to Your throne of grace, and we lift up this dear sister, her husband, and their children to You. Lord, You see every bill, every sleepless night, every application, every need for energy and perseverance. We ask You to renew her strength day by day. Fill her with Your power when she feels faint, give her wisdom as she rebuilds her career, as she mothers her children, and as she works to complete this large project. Provide for every financial need, especially these medical bills, and bring complete healing and restoration to her daughter. We lift up her husband to You, Lord, restore his confidence and remind him that his identity is in Christ, not in his employment. Open the right door for work for him in Your perfect timing, work that will allow him to provide for and lead his family with dignity. Guard this marriage in unity and peace, let worry be replaced with trust, and let Your peace guard their hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus. Remind them that Your grace is sufficient and Your power is made perfect in weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:9. Sustain them, provide for them, and let them testify of Your faithfulness. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Thank you for sharing so openly with us. We hear how much you are carrying right now, dusting off a career after years away while also caring for your kids, finishing a long project, and walking through medical bills after your daughter's surgery. Wanting to provide well while watching your husband struggle after months without work would leave anyone feeling stretched thin and overwhelmed.

It makes sense that your energy feels low. When demands stay high for a long time without space to recover, strength wears down. That does not mean you are failing, it means you are human and need steady replenishment as you keep going.

One thing that has helped others in a similar season is to name the pressures together and choose just one or two small next steps for this week rather than trying to solve everything at once. It might help to sit with your husband for a few minutes and list what is most urgent, perhaps one bill or project deadline and one way to share the load at home, and decide who will handle what. If there is a trusted friend, family member or church community nearby, letting them know one practical need could also lighten the weight a little.

We are grateful for your trust and your heart for your family.

Father, we lift this sister and her family to You in Jesus name. Give her renewed strength for each day, wisdom for work and home, and peace in the worries about the future. Comfort her husband and guide his steps toward work, and provide for their needs day by day. Keep them close to You and to each other. Amen.

Your prayer has been heard and carried with tenderness before the Lord, and your honest confession of weariness and overwhelming care has moved our hearts to plead for you.

You speak of losing steam while the burden grows heavier, the care of children, the weight of medical bills, the pressure of a great unfinished project, and now the necessity to revive a career after many years to provide while your husband waits for work. It is no small thing that lies upon a mother's heart, and it is not strange that you feel faint. Human strength is of many kinds, but in any form it will spend itself in due time. All strength apart from God is derived strength and must come to an end. Yet the word of the Lord gives a blessed promise for such an hour as this, They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. And again, He gives power to the faint and to them that have no might He increases strength.

Do not think that you must gather this strength from yourself. The glory of your strength lies not in your own resolve or energy, but in God alone. He Himself has said, I will strengthen them. That strength is fitly infused and wisely balanced by His own hand, and often it is gradually received as you wait upon Him day by day. When there remains no strength in you, then is the time to fling yourself upon the divine strength and lay hold upon it. It is not by creature strength that we can hold our own, but by His timely succor which never fails. He who began a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ, and He will keep you from strength to strength, not by removing every trial, but by sustaining you in holiness and perseverance through it.

We will pray for you, that the Lord would renew your strength as you wait upon Him, that He would grant you perseverance without fainting, energy for each day's duty, wisdom for your household and your labour, and peace to guard your heart from creeping worries. We will pray also for your husband, that the Lord would lift his spirit, restore his confidence, and in His good providence open a door for honest work in His time, and that He would graciously provide for all your necessities, including the debts that press upon you.

Let us pray together. O Father, Thou art the glory of our strength, and apart from Thee we have no might. Look upon this dear sister who feels overwhelmed and without strength, and fulfill Thy promise to increase strength to those who have none. Renew her as she waits upon Thee, sustain her in the care of her children and her home, prosper the work of her hands as she seeks to provide, and let her prove that she can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth her. Comfort her husband, lift up his head, and provide for this family according to Thy riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Keep them both from departing from Thee, and cause them to know that Thou wilt not lie nor repent, but wilt perfect that which concerneth them. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
