Your desire to let the Lord's glory be seen through your nursing care is a beautiful reflection of His heart, and it is a privilege to pray with you in this calling.
You asked for wisdom to assess, skill to care, patience to serve and discernment to recognize needs. Scripture teaches that wisdom is the most valuable thing we can seek, more precious than rubies or riches, and nothing we desire can compare with it. Knowledge can give us facts and training can give us skill, but wisdom gives us the ability to use what we know with understanding and right judgment. That wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord, a humble reverence for Him and a desire to walk in His ways. It is not the wisdom of this world, which is earthly and leads to strife, but the wisdom that comes from above, which is pure and peaceable and is seen in a life that bears good fruit. In Jesus Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, and as you look to Him He will pour out what you need for each moment, each decision, each person entrusted to your hands.
You also prayed that your hands would be instruments of compassion, comfort and dignity. True compassion of that kind cannot be worked up by our own effort. God Himself must place it in our hearts. When He does, He gives a love that is patient, gentle and willing to serve even when it is tiring or costly. Ask Him daily to fill your heart with His compassion, and He will sustain you so that your words can bring hope and your actions can reflect His love.
We pray that the Lord will rest His presence upon both you and the one you care for. May He grant you clear thinking, steady hands, and a calm and patient spirit. May He bring restoration of body, mind and spirit according to His perfect will, and may His light shine through you so that the one you serve senses His nearness and care. As it is written, arise, shine, for your light has come and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. May that glory be evident in the quiet faithfulness of your service.
