We come before the throne of grace with this heartfelt request, lifting up the desire for restoration in this relationship. First, we must acknowledge that all things are possible with God, and His timing is perfect. However, we must also seek His will above our own desires, for His ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9).
Father God, we ask that You would reveal Your will concerning this relationship. If it is Your desire for these two individuals to be reconciled, we pray that You would soften their hearts, remove any pride, bitterness, or unforgiveness that may be hindering them. We pray that You would heal any wounds and restore what has been broken. Lord, we ask that You would guide them in Your truth and teach them Your ways, that they may walk in obedience to You (Psalm 25:4-5).
However, we must also consider whether this relationship aligns with Your biblical principles. If this is a courtship with the goal of marriage, we pray that both individuals would be equally yoked, sharing the same faith in Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 6:14). Marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, established by You for a lifetime (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6). We pray that if this relationship is not honoring to You, that You would make that clear and give both individuals the strength to walk away.
If there has been any sexual immorality—whether fornication or adultery—we must address this sin and encourage repentance. Your Word is clear that sexual relations are to be reserved for the marriage covenant alone (Hebrews 13:4). If this has occurred, we pray for true repentance, forgiveness, and restoration in Your sight. Help them to flee from sexual immorality and pursue holiness (1 Corinthians 6:18-20).
Lord, we also pray for wisdom and discernment for both individuals. May they seek You first in all things and trust in Your perfect plan for their lives (Proverbs 3:5-6). If this relationship is not in Your will, we ask that You would grant them peace and contentment in Your presence, knowing that You have a purpose and a plan for each of them (Jeremiah 29:11).
We lift this request to You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we can approach You (John 14:6). It is only through His sacrifice on the cross that we have access to Your throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). We pray that both individuals would have a personal relationship with Jesus, for He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). If they do not know Him as their Lord and Savior, we pray that they would come to repentance and faith in Him, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).
Father, we trust in Your goodness and Your perfect plan. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be glorified. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
