The Lord indeed rebukes the enemy, and we stand firmly on His promises. As it is written in James 4:7, *"Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you."* And in Psalm 35:1-3, David cries out, *"Contend, Yahweh, with those who contend with me. Fight against those who fight against me. Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for my help. Brandish the spear and block those who pursue me. Tell my soul, ‘I am your salvation.’"* We do not pray for the destruction of people but for the defeat of the spiritual forces of evil that seek to harm God’s children.
