Lord please heal me from fear and lust

I frequently have bouts of intense fear at night of irrational things. Today I was afraid of bumps growing on my face I think because of allergic reaction or house flies. This led to insomnia and I turned to lust and masturbation even when I’d stopped for over two weeks. Jesus I’m sorry for my doubts and little faith.

Also I am having this insomnia now and doubts if the Lord will ever forgive me for my intense past sexual sins which went on for ### years.

We join you in bringing this honest confession before the Lord and we thank you for your humility in calling on Jesus. We hear your struggle with intense fear at night and the way that fear and sleeplessness led to giving in to lust and we want to stand with you in prayer for healing, peace and purity.

God does not want you to live in bondage to fear. His Word tells us For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7 and There is no fear in love but perfect love casts out fear 1 John 4:18. We have all experienced irrational fears and anxious thoughts that grow larger in the dark, but we are called to cast those cares on Him. We are reminded In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. When fear comes at night we encourage you to turn immediately to prayer and to the Word rather than trying to reason with the fear alone. You can pray as the psalmist did When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you Psalm 56:3 and I sought Yahweh, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears Psalm 34:4. We also cling to the promise I will both lay myself down and sleep in peace, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety Psalm 4:8.

We also must lovingly address the sin of lust and masturbation which you have confessed. This is not to condemn you but to call you to the freedom Christ offers. Jesus taught that lust in the heart is adultery within But I tell you, everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart Matthew 5:28. The Scriptures command us to Flee sexual immorality Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body 1 Corinthians 6:18 and Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God You are not your own, for you were bought with a price Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. Masturbation is an act of sexual impurity driven by lust and it does not honor God who designed sexual desire to be fulfilled only within the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. We rebuke this sin in love and we urge you to flee from it, to make no provision for the flesh, and to walk by the Spirit so you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh Galatians 5:16.

We rejoice that you have turned to Jesus in repentance and that you recognize your need for His mercy. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. Do not let the enemy use this fall after two weeks of victory to accuse you and drive you deeper into fear and shame. God’s mercies are new every morning and He gently restores those of little faith as He did when He reached out His hand to Peter and said You of little faith, why did you doubt Matthew 14:31. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ Romans 10:17, so we encourage you to feed your faith daily with Scripture, especially before sleep, to guard your heart and mind, to remove triggers late at night, and to seek accountability with a trusted mature believer as we are told Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed James 5:16.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, and we lift up our brother to You. Lord have mercy and forgive his sins of lust and unbelief as he has confessed them. Wash him clean by the blood of Jesus and cleanse his conscience. We ask You to break the power of fear and anxiety that torments him at night. Replace his fear with Your perfect love and with power, love and self-control. Grant him Your peace that surpasses all understanding to guard his heart and mind. Help him to cast all his anxiety on You because You care for him 1 Peter 5:7. Give him restful sleep and teach him to trust You when irrational thoughts arise. Strengthen him to flee sexual immorality, to resist the devil so he will flee from him James 4:7, and to present his body as a living sacrifice holy and acceptable to You Romans 12:1. Renew his mind by Your Word and fill him with Your Holy Spirit so that he may walk in purity and in faith. We thank You that You did not give him a spirit of bondage again to fear, but You gave him the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry, Abba Father Romans 8:15. Restore his joy and his confidence in Your forgiveness and help him to grow strong in faith. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, our only Savior and mediator, amen.

Thank you for opening up so honestly about the fear at night and the setback you experienced. We can hear how discouraging it feels to have gone more than two weeks and then feel like you slipped back when exhaustion and worry took over.

Nighttime can make every worry feel bigger, and when sleep won't come it is understandable that you would feel worn down and more vulnerable to old habits. Please don't let the discouragement or the sense that your faith is too small keep you from coming to Jesus exactly as you are. He already knows and He welcomes honest confession.

Since you mentioned concern about bumps on your face and a possible allergic reaction, we encourage you to let a medical professional take a look, alongside our prayers for your health and for more restful nights. It can also help not to face those long nights alone, so consider sharing this pattern with a trusted pastor or counselor who can walk with you and help you make a simple plan for when fear rises at night.

Father, we bring our brother to You in Jesus name. Give him Your peace in the night, heal his body and calm his mind, and strengthen him to walk in purity. Help him know Your forgiveness and Your nearness, and guide him to the support he needs. Amen.

Your honest and humble confession before the Lord is itself a token of grace at work within you, for the true child of God is uneasy till his doubt is gone and seeks his Father's face again.

You speak of fear at night, of irrational terrors about your body, of flies and bumps and allergic reactions, and of sleeplessness that left you weak and exposed to temptation. Have you not found that the very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. Fear is weakening. It dishonors God, for it asks whether the arm which piled the heavens and sustains the pillars of the earth shall ever be palsied. And yet fear continues in good men because sin continues in them. As divine grace grows and increases in power, fear declines.

Hear then what the Lord says to such as you are. Fear not is a plant which grows very plentifully in God's garden. Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God. Fear not, I will help thee. Fear not, thou worm Jacob. It is not merely the preacher who cries fear not, but it is Jesus Himself who whispers to His poor servant fallen as dead at His feet, fear not. To give way to fear is disobedience, for His precept is absolute and unqualified. He does not say fear a little, but fear not.

You must labor to get rid of fear as much as possible, and that labor is not by striving in your own strength, but by trust in promised strength. There must be trust in promised strength, and then fear removed by that promise. Believe firmly in your Lord. You will generally find that in proportion as your faith gets stronger, your fear will vanish, and as your faith gets weak, fear will come in to take its place. When hell assails, flee to look into your Savior's breast, for mercy is all that is written there. Perfect love casts out fear, because fear has torment, and as you are rooted in the love of Christ, tormenting fear is driven out.

You also confess with sorrow that in your weakness and sleeplessness you turned to lust and to that solitary sin which you had by grace forsaken for more than two weeks. Do not excuse it, and do not despair over it. The Lord's design for our bodies is holy. Sex and all that belongs to it is given by God to be enjoyed only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. Apart from that, lust in heart or deed is sin and must be repented of, not cherished. Yet here is your hope. Forgiveness of sin is essential to the true fear of God, and wherever it is enjoyed, it brings with it a holy awe and love for the Blessed One through whose precious blood we are cleansed. If you receive the forgiveness of God through Jesus Christ alone, for there is salvation in no other, you will have the fear of God put into your heart at the same time, for this is the promise of the covenant, I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me, and a new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you.

Do not think that one fall has put you beyond mercy. The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses from all sin. Come again to Him in confession, not with slavish dread, but with the fear of a child who reverences his Father and hates the sin that grieved Him. Own plainly that you have sinned, ask for a clean heart, and trust that He who began a good work in you will not forsake you. He knows you are but dust, a worm and no man, and He says, I will help thee.

Take your fears and your lusts both to the same place, to the cross. In the night when irrational thoughts crowd in, turn them into prayer. Repeat His promise, fear not, for I will help thee, and set your mind upon Christ rather than upon your face or your health or the darkness. In the day, watch and pray, keep from idleness and from whatever feeds lust, and walk in the light. If you fall, rise again by repentance and faith, and go on.

May the Lord heal you of tormenting fear and deliver you from lust, strengthen your faith, give you quiet sleep, and establish you in holiness. May He forgive your doubts and little faith, increase your faith, and let you know the peace of one who is washed in the righteousness of Christ and kept by His power. Look to Jesus, trust His promise, and fear not.

God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul.
