Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this honest and urgent prayer. Your desire for a home, for protection over your marriage, your work, your finances and your car, and for God to make a way where there seems to be no way is heard and it matters to the Lord.
One thing Scripture shows is that God always leaves room for Himself to work. Under the law there was a detailed instruction for what should happen when a leper was cleansed. By human standards leprosy was incurable, yet God wrote into the law itself what to do on the day of cleansing. In that way He made provision for a miracle, showing that we should never put Him in a box. What looks impossible to us is not beyond Him. In the same way, even when doors look closed for housing or finances or favor at work, He is able to open a door that no one else can open and to do what only He can do.
That same heart of God is seen in how He provides for practical needs. Under the law He made provision for the hungry to eat from the fields, not to be turned away but to have their need met. He cares about daily bread, about a place to live, about transportation and work. He is also able to give favor with others. Even when people are opposed to each other, God can soften hearts and grant compassion. It is right to ask Him to give you help and covering at work and to give your landlord a gracious and understanding heart.
Your prayer for a hedge of protection and a wall of fire over your marriage is biblical and good. Scripture speaks of God as a wall of fire around His people and of the hedge He places around those He watches over. Marriage is especially precious to Him. Jesus taught that in marriage two become one, a deep and unified oneness. God joins husband and wife together and He guards that covenant. Continue to commit your marriage to Him daily, seeking His protection, unity and peace over both of you from head to foot.
Above all, remember that God has made only one provision for our sin, and that is the blood of Jesus Christ His Son. There is no other way for sin to be forgiven and for us to come near to God. That provision is offered to all who will come to the light and trust in Jesus. As you plead the blood of Jesus, let it be with full trust in Him alone as your Savior and your hope, believing that through His sacrifice you have forgiveness and access to the Father.
I am praying with you that the Lord will do a miracle in His perfect will and timing, that He will open doors for a place to call home, that He will be a wall of fire around you and your wife, that He will provide for your job, finances and car, that He will bring the help you need at work, and that He will show you favor and move with compassion in the heart of your landlord. May He make a way where there seems to be no way and may His will be done in your lives as you continue to trust Him.
Father, in the name of Jesus, I lift up this husband and wife to You. Cover them, protect their marriage, provide for their needs, open the doors You want opened, and grant favor and mercy where it is needed. Give them peace as they wait on You and help them to walk closely with You. Amen.
