Silas
Beloved of All
Your honest and burdened prayer is heard, and thank you for sharing it so openly. The Lord knows how difficult and painful things have been and still are, and He sees the attacks, the abuse, the wounds and the waiting.
It is right to ask for His protection over you and your family. Scripture gives you language for this. He is a wall of fire around His people, He gives His angels charge to guard those who fear Him, He is a shield about you, and He is faithful to guard you from evil. No weapon formed against you will finally prosper, and if God is for you, nothing can stand against His purpose for you. To plead the blood of Jesus is to rest in what Christ has already done on the cross, where He bore the judgment for sin and opened the only way of escape. There is no other refuge from sin and from the enemy, and that refuge is completely sufficient.
You have asked especially for salvation for your family, and that is the greatest need of all. The name Jesus itself means the Lord is salvation, for He shall save His people from their sins. This salvation is by the tender mercy of God and by His grace alone, not by anything we can do. God placed it outside our own ability so that no one could boast. We are His workmanship, His poem of grace. It is open to all, for the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all people, and Scripture says now is the accepted time, now is the day of salvation. If we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved. That confession now brings salvation. To neglect so great a salvation is to have no escape, but to receive Christ is to be brought into the family of God as sons and heirs together with Him. Keep praying for your loved ones by name, that each one would turn to Christ and submit to His lordship, for His arm is not too short to save.
Salvation is more than being saved from danger. We are saved for a purpose, that we might serve Him without fear in holiness and righteousness all our days. Part of that is what you prayed for, new hearts and new minds, love poured into your hearts through the Holy Spirit, and the fruit of the Spirit made visible. God has promised to give a new heart and put a new spirit within, to restore the soul, and to restore the years that have seemed hopelessly broken. He who redeemed us from the curse of the law is able to turn curses into blessing.
You also asked for deliverance and healing. Isaiah tells us that by His wounds we are healed, and the gospel shows Jesus healing the sick and delivering those oppressed by darkness as a sign of His Messiahship. Physical healing is included in what Christ suffered for us, and we should bring every sickness and trauma to Him. At the same time Scripture also shows that God does not will immediate physical healing in every case in this life, as with Paul who prayed three times concerning his thorn and learned to rest in grace. The greatest miracle in any life is not bodily healing but the forgiveness of sins. Hold both truths together. Keep asking for healing according to verses like Jeremiah 30:17, and trust His sovereign wisdom for how and when He answers.
You asked for help not to lean on your own understanding but to trust Him while you wait, and for encouragement and strength. That is the right prayer. Trust is not natural to us, it is given by God as we look to Jesus, the captain of our salvation. He calls us to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling, not working for salvation, but living out what He has already worked within us, for it is God who works in us to will and to do His good pleasure. Do not lose sight of what He has already done. Praise and thanksgiving while still waiting is a powerful guard for your heart.
You were honest about anger in your heart, about speaking badly about others behind their backs, and about venting frustration. Bring that directly to the Lord in confession. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us. Ask Him to set a guard over your mouth and to give you grace to do better, and where you can, make it right with those you have spoken against.
Concerning the many relationships and school situations you mentioned, including the painful and dysfunctional patterns and the new relationships that concern you, pray for the Lord to do what is holy and redemptive. God designed marriage as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and He calls all sexual intimacy and living together to belong within that covenant. Do not ask Him to bless what falls outside that design. Instead ask Him to bring conviction where there is sin, healing where there are wounds and rejection, clear boundaries, purity, and either a godly marriage according to His will or a gracious separation from what would harm. Pray for favor with teachers and students only insofar as it helps your loved ones walk in truth and grow in character and wisdom. Pray for supernatural confidence that is rooted in Him, not in self, and for help with learning, homework, and daily responsibilities, trusting that He cares about every detail.
For your own work, for responsibilities that feel heavy, for sleep, for rest, for times set apart for devotion and for prayer together with others, ask Him to anoint, protect, guide and empower. He is the one who establishes our work and teaches us what to say. When the topic feels broad and you do not know what to say, ask for His leading and trust that He will give words that exalt Christ and invite others to salvation.
May the Lord encourage you in a deep way and bring breakthrough in His perfect time and way. His purposes will stand and He will deliver His people.
Let us pray together. Lord Jesus, thank You that You are our salvation. We confess You as Lord and thank You that whoever calls on Your name will be saved. We ask You to save each member of this family who has not yet trusted You, to pour Your love into their hearts, to give new hearts that love holiness and righteousness, and to fill them with Your Holy Spirit. Surround this family as a shield, be a wall of fire around them, command Your angels to guard them, and deliver them from every evil. Heal what is wounded, restore what is broken, redeem what the enemy has tried to destroy, and break the power of every curse through Your cross. Forgive anger and unkind words, cleanse and renew. Give supernatural trust and faith, restore souls, and help them to wait with thanksgiving and hope. Lead every relationship into Your holy will, bring purity and wholeness, comfort those who are hurting, and guide in school, work, and all daily needs. Be glorified in a mighty way in all their lives. In Your holy name, Jesus, Amen.
