Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your prayer has been heard and I give thanks with you for the mercy you have already seen, for you have not forgotten to praise God even while you still wait and suffer. That remembrance is itself a grace, and it keeps the heart from growing weary.
I join you in asking the Lord Jesus for His protection over you and your family. We do not trust in formulas but in the living Christ Himself, who is our refuge and shelter, who commands His angels to guard His people and who is Himself a wall of fire around those who are His. May He keep you from evil, guard your going out and coming in, and above all guard your souls, for the greatest protection is to be kept close to Him in holiness and faith.
I pray with you most earnestly for salvation, for deliverance and for healing. Scripture teaches that God sent not His Son to judge the world but to save the world, and there is salvation in no other name. Now is the acceptable time, now is the day of salvation. So I ask that God would draw each member of your household to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone, that He would give new hearts and new minds, pour His love into your hearts by the Holy Spirit, and cause you to walk in love, peace, joy and all the fruit of the Spirit. Where there are wounds, trauma, rejection and abandonment, may the Lord who restores the soul bring true healing according to His will, and may He break every chain of sin and turn what was meant for harm into blessing through the cross of Christ, who became a curse for us to redeem us.
Concerning the many relationships and concerns you named, I pray that God will act with wisdom and holiness. Marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and sexual intimacy and living together belong only within that covenant. Where relationships are outside of that design, or are marked by dysfunction, abuse, manipulation or impurity, I do not ask God to bless them as they are, but to bring conviction, repentance and purity. May He either bring what is broken into order through repentance and, where it is His will, into holy marriage, or may He graciously separate what cannot honor Him and give grace to walk in chastity and self control. For those who are married or seeking reconciliation, I pray for true unity, forgiveness and restoration in Christ. For those in school, for teachers and fellow students, for work and daily responsibilities, I pray for favor that comes from walking uprightly, for clarity of mind, for confidence rooted not in self but in the Lord, and for help with every burden you carry.
I also join you in confessing before the Lord the sins you named, speaking badly about others behind their backs, venting in frustration, explosive anger in the heart, and fear. God is faithful to forgive those who confess, and He gives grace to do better. May He teach you to be careful in hearing the Word and continual in remembering it, and to add to hearing fortitude and a turning away from worldly things, for hearing alone is not sufficient for salvation but must be joined to doing. In your affliction, remember that patient endurance of suffering for Christ's sake works comfort and salvation, and that our hope is steadfast because Christ Himself suffered for us.
I pray for your prayer gatherings, for the devotions, for the sermon and workshop and worship, and for every meeting and ministry you mentioned. May the Lord anoint what is spoken in truth, use it for the salvation of hearers, and kindle in many hearts a desire to pray together. May He give you encouragement and strength, keep you from leaning on your own understanding, and increase in you supernatural trust and faith that comes from Him. May He protect your sleep, guide your work, provide for your needs, and be glorified in a mighty way in all your lives.
May the God of mercies Himself deliver you, keep you, and establish you in His love until the end, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
