Silas
Beloved of All
Your cry to see Jesus glorified in your family is precious to the Lord, and He hears the many burdens you have been carrying for those you love.
Thank you for anchoring your prayer in faith in Jesus as the spotless Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world and cleanses us from all sin. His very name means the Lord is salvation. There is no other provision God has made for sin. Salvation is entirely His work, His grace, and even the faith to believe it is His gift to us. It is not something we earn. Scripture says to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, and then immediately adds that it is God who works in you both to will and to do His good pleasure. That means we do not work for salvation, we live out with reverence what God has already worked within us when we trusted Christ.
That is why your prayers for your unsaved family members are so important. The grace of God that brings salvation has appeared, and Scripture says now is the accepted time, now is the day of salvation. Every knee will one day confess that Jesus is Lord, but that future confession will not be unto salvation. It will be the acknowledgement of those who rejected Him that He truly is Lord. To confess Him now, to believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead and to submit to His lordship now, is unto salvation and eternal life. It is a great salvation, open to whosoever will come, and Jesus will in no way cast out anyone who comes to Him. He is the captain and originator of our salvation who suffered to bring many sons and daughters into glory as part of God's family. Keep holding out that hope to your family, asking God to open their hearts to the gospel while there is still opportunity, and seeking to live in a way that gives no unnecessary offense so the message can be heard.
You have also asked for healing, deliverance, and protection, and you have stood on promises like Psalm 50:15, Psalm 91, and Isaiah 54:14-17. God is your protection, your deliverer, and your peace. He promises to be with you in trouble, to cover you, and to let no weapon formed against you finally prosper as you walk in His righteousness.
Concerning healing, Scripture shows that Christ's suffering provides for both spiritual and physical healing. Isaiah spoke of Him bearing our sicknesses, and Matthew applies that directly to Jesus healing the sick and the oppressed, and we remember His body broken for us. At the same time, the Bible is honest that we do not always understand why some are healed instantly, some gradually, and some, like Paul with his thorn in the flesh, are not healed in the way they asked though they prayed earnestly. There are many kinds of healing, instant and gradual, through prayer and through the natural processes God Himself created, and every true healing is divine. What remains certain is that your greatest miracle, the forgiveness of your sins and your salvation, is already secured in Christ, and that is more important than any other answer to prayer. You can trust His wisdom and love to do what is best in each body and each situation, whether He heals as you ask or sustains you with grace and peace that passes understanding.
You asked for a wall of protection around your thoughts and emotions and for God's help against bondage, addictions, compulsions, and spiritual oppression. God is able to deliver, to break strongholds, to bring His truth to replace lies, and to guard your heart and mind in Christ. He is also the one who can bring healing to trauma, rejection, and abandonment, and to the wounds in relationships that feel so deep. He knows the details of the difficult situations at work, in school, and in your home that feel overwhelming. He knows the need for friends, for favor with teachers and classmates, for help with tests and homework, for understanding, for confidence, for relief from physical spasms and burnout, and for wisdom in leading, planning, shepherding, and daily tasks. You can ask Him for all of this, and for the fullness of the Holy Spirit, for a renewed love for Him first of all, and for clear direction.
You were honest about failing often, about venting behind others' backs, and about anger. God's mercies are new every morning, and when we confess our sins He is faithful to forgive us through Jesus. That same mercy enables you to repent of what grieves Him, to make things right where you can, and to respond differently with kindness even in adversity.
Regarding the relationships you mentioned, God loves each person involved and desires their salvation and wholeness. Because marriage is God's design as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and because sexual intimacy and living together belong within that covenant, we do not ask God to bless or affirm relationships that are outside His will. Instead we pray as you have prayed, that God would block what is not good, bring conviction where needed, expose what is hidden, prevent what would lead to further harm, and draw each person to salvation, purity, and healing. For your daughter and other young people, we pray for godly friendships, for encouragement in faith, and for the assurance that God hears their prayers.
May the Lord give you peace as you continue to cry out to Him. May He strengthen faith where it is weary, bring encouragement and breakthrough in His perfect timing, and turn what the enemy meant for evil into good for those who love Him. May He fill you with His Spirit, grant you wisdom for every decision, and let you experience fresh encounters with His presence as you seek Him.
Joining you in prayer:
Father, we come through the blood of Jesus alone. We ask You to glorify Your Son in this family. Save those who are not yet saved, open their hearts to the gospel today. Deliver from every bondage and addiction, heal according to Your perfect will, whether instantly or gradually, and protect this family under Your covering. Guard thoughts and emotions, give peace, give friends and encouragement, help with school and work, relieve physical suffering, heal burnout and broken relationships, and grant wisdom, organization, and strength for every task. Forgive sins, renew mercies each morning, fill each heart with Your Holy Spirit, and teach us to love and obey You above all. Block what is not of You, especially in relationships, and lead each one into salvation and holiness. Do miracles as only You can, for Your glory. In Jesus' name, Amen.
