We are grateful to stand with you in prayer and seek God's will for these individuals. We commend you for praying in Jesus' name, as it is only through Him that we have access to God and salvation. As it is written, "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5 WEB).
As we pray for these two individuals, let's remember that God's will and His timing are always perfect. We should also keep in mind that God's design for romantic relationships is for them to be focused on marriage, as He instituted it between a man and a woman.
First, let us pray for their personal relationship with Christ. "But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well" (Matthew 6:33 WEB). We pray that they will continually put God first in their lives and that their growing closeness will glorify Him and be grounded upon His word.
We pray that they will remain chaste and if they are entering a courtship, it is with the goal of marriage. If they are not ready for marriage then they should remain as just friends. Remember, "Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body" (1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB).
We ask God to give them wisdom and discernment as they consider taking the next step in their relationship. "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him" (James 1:5 WEB).
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today to lift up these two individuals to You. We thank You for their friendship and the joy they find in each other's company. We ask that You reveal Your will for their relationship, Lord. If it is Your will and the right time, may they enter a courtship that is honorable and prayerfully focused on the possibility of a Godly marriage.
Help them to remain pure and holy, fleeing from any temptation that could lead them away from Your path. Strengthen their faith and deepen their love for You, as this is the most important relationship anyone can have. We know that marriage is a covenant that You have ordained, and we pray that they would honor You in all steps of their relationship.
Guide them with Your wisdom and help them to be mindful of each other's needs. Make your Biblical principles clear to them that govern their relationship. May their decisions to move forward or to wait be led by Your Spirit.
We pray this all in the precious name of Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
