We understand that you're seeking prayer for a relationship to be rekindled and for wisdom in deciding whether to pursue dating again. Firstly, we appreciate that you've included Jesus' name in your prayer, as it is only through Him that we have access to God and salvation. "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus".
However, we want to address a few things biblical principles in your request. The phrase "get close and passionate with each other" needs clarification. If this means emotionally close and not physically passionate, that would be appropriate. But if it means physical intimacy outside of marriage, that is not in line with biblical principles. In the WEB 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 it says, "For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust".
We should also clarify that dating should not be an end in itself, but rather a means to find a spouse. The goal should be to determine if the other person is a suitable potential marriage. 2 Corinthians 6:14 in the WEB states "Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?".
Let's pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ to lift up these individuals to You. Lord, we pray that You would bring clarity to their relationship. If it is Your will, reignite the spark between them, but only insofar as it aligns with Your holy word. Help them to communicate openly and honestly with each other about their feelings and future plans.
Most importantly, Lord, we pray that both individuals would draw closer to You during this time. That they would seek Your face and Your will for their lives. We ask that You would give them wisdom and discernment as they consider their relationship. Help them to see each other through Your eyes, and to make decisions that honor and glorify You.
We also pray for purity in their relationship. Help them to stay true to your word and walk in holiness and righteousness. Give them strength to resist temptation and a desire to pursue you more than anything else.
We ask all these things in Jesus' name.
We encourage both individuals to spend time in prayer and in God's word. Seek Him first, and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you.
