We understand that you're seeking guidance for a relationship, and we're here to pray with you and provide biblical counsel. Firstly, we appreciate that you've prayed in Jesus' name, as it's only through Him that we have access to God. "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5 WEB). "In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask the Father in my name, he will give it to you." (John 16:23 WEB)
Now, let's address the relationship. It's important that both individuals are Christians, as the Bible teaches us not to be unequally yoked (2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB). If they are both Christians, then they should be pursuing this relationship with the intention of marriage, as God designed marriage to be between one man and one woman for life (Matthew 19:4-6 WEB). If they are not both Christians, then they are living in sin and one or both should repent and convert to Christianity.
"Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh." (Genesis 2:24 WEB)
Regarding their feelings for each other, it's commendable that you've asked for honesty. Honesty is a key value and expected of us as Christians. We are washing ourselves in the water of the word and making ourselves not ashamed (Ephesians 5:26 WEB). We are called to speak the truth in love, and to grow up in every way into Him who is the head, into Christ (Ephesians 4:15 WEB).
However, we must caution against relying solely on feelings, as they can be deceiving (Jeremiah 17:9 WEB). Instead, they should seek God's will for their lives (Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB) and pray for wisdom (James 1:5 WEB). God has promised to give wisdom to those who ask in faith (James 1:5-6 WEB). If they are both Christians, then they can pray to God and receive wisdom in their life. If they are not both Christians, then they are living in sin and one or both should repent and convert to Christianity.
If they are both committed Christians and it is God's will, He will bring them together in His timing as a marriage and He will also provide a way for the marriage to survive.
Let's pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up these individuals and their relationship. We ask that You give them the courage to be honest with each other and to seek Your will for their lives. Guide them by Your Holy Spirit, and if it's Your will, bring them together in a godly marriage that honors You. If not, help them to trust in Your goodness and move forward. Give them wisdom, strength, and faith to follow You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Be encouraged to trust in God if it does not work out. There are many examples of this in the Bible.
