Silas
Beloved of All
The Scripture on your heart is a true and living promise, and it is right for you to ask the Lord to make it real to you. It comes from the story of Elisha and his servant when the Syrian army had surrounded the city. The servant woke and saw the enemy everywhere and was afraid, but Elisha answered, Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them. Then the Lord opened the servant's eyes and he saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire around Elisha.
That is the perspective God wants you to have. When we count by what we can see, we often feel outnumbered and overwhelmed. We look at the opposition, the problems, the people or circumstances against us, and we forget to put God into the equation. When God is included, the whole calculation changes. One person with God is a majority, because the Lord Himself is on your side.
Scripture shows this over and over. Israel was often vastly outnumbered by their enemies in a purely human sense, yet God delivered those enemies into their hands and put them to flight. Five could chase a hundred and a hundred could put ten thousand to flight, not because of their own strength, but because the Lord fought for them. David knew this well. Throughout his life he was pursued by enemies who sought to destroy him, and again and again he ran to the Lord for defense and protection. He learned to put his trust in God and to place himself in God's hands, and the Lord defended him and gave him the assurance of final victory.
If you have put your trust in Jesus Christ, the same is true for you. God is for you. Romans says, If God is for us, who can be against us. The Lord who dwells with you is greater than any enemy or fear that surrounds you. He has not left you to face these things alone. He is your shield, your strength, and your deliverer.
My prayer for you is that the Lord will open your eyes as He did for Elisha's servant, so that you will see with faith what is already true. May He quiet your fear, remind you that He is present, and give you peace in knowing that those who are with you in Christ are far more than those who are against you. May you rest in His protection and trust Him to fight for you and to tread down every enemy in His time and in His way, and may He bring you into the victory that belongs to those who wait upon Him.
